Bring out the brooms! The Minnesota Timberwolves completed a sweep in the young stars’ first playoff series. The league’s best defense was able to lock down the Phoenix Suns.
The young stars have progressed into a better team in the last five seasons. In the 2019-2020 season, they were 19-45. Then the next few seasons went as follows: 23-49, 46-36, and 42-40. Now, the Minnesota Timberwolves are 56-26. The Minnesota Timberwolves finally got past the first round after being eliminated in the first rounds in the last two years.
How The Minnesota Timberwolves Got Their 1st Sweep In Franchise History
It is not as surprising as people may think. The Timberwolves seem to be really cool with each other based on their press conferences. Phoenix’s two main issues in the series have been their lack of rebounding and team chemistry. Outside of being outrebounded in game 1 58-28, the Suns couldn’t find the proper gameplan against the Timberwolves defense.
The Minnesota Timberwolves Young Stars
Everyone knows about Antman’s explosiveness on the court. Fans and even the media started to compare Anthony Edwards to the mid-eighties Michael Jordan based on how he’s progressed into a two-way player on both sides of the court.
He recorded 36 points in game 3 and Anthony dropped 40 so the Minnesota Timberwolves can get their first playoff sweep in franchise history. Jaden McDaniels contributed with a solid 18 points and held Bradley Beal down to 9 points last night.
What’s Next For The Phoenix Suns?
Phoenix has a lot of questions going into the offseason. It seems like once they were 2-0 in the 2021 NBA finals, nothing has been the same. Would Kevin Durant request a trade to go to another team? How would Bradley Beal’s contract affect Phoenix going forward?
After this year’s draft, the Phoenix Suns will not own their first or second-round draft picks until the 2030-2031 season. Will the Suns be this decade’s 2013 Brooklyn Nets as their acquisitions of the old trio of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Jason Terry affected their draft picks for several years? These are things they must figure out in the offseason.
