Milwaukee Bucks Acquire Kyle Kuzma In Blockbuster NBA Trade

Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks made a huge trade in what has been a busy few days in the National Basketball Association. They acquired Kyle Kuzma, Patrick Baldwin Jr., and second-round draft compensation from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, and a pick swap.

Middleton has seen his career diminish following a rash of injuries over the last three seasons. He is averaging 12.1 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.4 assists this year. Kuzma is also having a down season but is considerably younger and a better fit for the Milwaukee Bucks. Kuzma was also with an awful Washington Wizards team. He should feel rejuvenated and start playing better for a championship contender. How will this deal work out for both sides?

Milwaukee Bucks Season Outlook

Milwaukee has been a middling team with a 26-22 record. That has the Bucks as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. They are also in the midst of a four-game losing streak. Kuzma will be tasked with providing the team with a consistent third scorer to pair with former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and star Point Guard Damian Lillard.

Milwaukee’s offense has been great this season. They are 12th in points per game, 7th in field goal percentage, and 2nd in three-point percentage. Even though Milwaukee’s offense is one of the league’s best, the franchise believed Kuzma could be the missing piece as they vie for a second championship in the last four seasons.

Final Thoughts

Kuzma comes to the Milwaukee Bucks with a championship pedigree after winning the 2020 NBA Championship with the Los Angeles Lakers. This is a solid move, but it does not carry with it the upside to become a true contender in the Eastern Conference. The Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers are all better than Milwaukee. The championship odds reflect that as Milwaukee has the seventh-best title chances.

Kuzma is a solid player but the Milwaukee Bucks are still far from being a true title contender. With the NBA Trade Deadline a little more than 24 hours away, the franchise still needs to make another move or two to better position itself in a strong Eastern Conference
