The Milwaukee Brewers signed Starting Pitcher Jose Quintana to a one-year deal on Monday afternoon. With Spring Training already underway, he was one of the best remaining starting pitchers on the market. Quintana is coming off a strong regular season with the New York Mets.
He was 10-10 during the regular season with a 3.75 ERA. Quintana raised his level in the MLB Playoffs. He played a big role in New York making an improbable run to the NLCS. Quintana had a 3.14 ERA and tossed two scoreless outings in the postseason. Unfortunately for Quintana, he had one of his worst starts of the season in Game 4 of the NLCS. Will Quintana be a contributor to the Milwaukee Brewers rotation this season?

Milwaukee’s season came to a disappointing end when they lost to the New York Mets in the Wild Card Round. Quintana joins a Brewers starting rotation that includes Freddy Peralta, Brandon Woodruff, and Nestor Cortes. The Brewers had one of the league’s best starting rotations during the regular season. They were fifth in ERA, 14th in strikeouts, and 10th in opposing batting average. Milwaukee’s starting rotation struggled in the MLB Playoffs. Quintana will look to carry his postseason performance from New York over to Milwaukee this season.
Final Thoughts
Quintana is a savvy signing by the Milwaukee Brewers. He had a strong season in 2024 and will add to the strength of the team in 2025. The team had a relatively quiet offseason, but will still be a playoff threat this season.
