Mikel Arteta Reveals Plan to Stop Haaland and Man City

Mikel Arteta

Mikel Arteta has commented ahead of their big clash against Manchester City. Arsenal will be hoping they can hold their own against the dominant Pep Guardiola side. The North London club manager commented on how he feels his side can stop the league’s defending champions. Last season, the Gunners were able to hold their own at the Etihad, playing a nil-nil draw. This season, they’ll hope to find that win.

A few days back Mikel Arteta’s side escaped a loss against the dangerous Atlanta side. Arteta now hopes his side can perform better against Man City. A win for them will push them above City who are topping the table. Nevertheless, it will not be an easy one, as it’s been a long time since the Gunners had gotten the best out of Man City at the Etihad.

Mike Arteta has spoken about his expectations of his team. The Spaniard desires a better improvement from his team compared to their performance against Atlanta. He also spoke about the need for consistency and hunger. Ahead of the game, Arteta also spoke that his team is aiming for the win at the Etihad despite the odds.

He said: “Yes we want to improve in certain areas but to do that it’s important that we have to be much, much better. We never got distances or the right relationships and putting the ball in areas where they really suffer. We need to be a lot more consistent if we want the team to flow. We need to do it much more consistently if you want the game to flow.”

He also added: “For sure we will prepare to try and win, like we did tonight. That’s been the message already. To do that there are going to be things that we have to do much better than tonight. There are some things that we have done exceptionally well tonight and we are going to have to do them again. Because we all know we need a big performance to beat them.

Arteta on How to Stop Haaland & City

The Spaniard has revealed his plans for the in-form City striker Haaland. He believes his defense and keeper are well and capable of holding their own against the ferocious City forwards. He also praises the Chemistry of his team’s defense.

Arteta said: “We always look at the individuals and the strengths that they have and how we can nullify that. They are in a great moment and have been very, very consistent for the past two seasons together. There is an unbelievable chemistry there and you can sense it. They gave us a lot tonight – I thought they were both exceptional.

Manchester City vs Arsenal Clash

The Gunners are expected to travel to Manchester to face the Premier League defending champions. The fixture is expected to be an intriguing encounter. Despite the absence of Odegaard and Merino, Arsenal will be hoping they can grind a good result against Pep Guardiola’s side, last season they were able to manage a draw. However, criticism fell on them for sitting back against Man City at most periods of the game. This time around Arteta might want to tweak a few tactics, as he’ll desire a win from his side.
