It seems Jake Paul (9-1) and Mike Tyson (50-6-2) are exchanging boxing gloves for Twitter fingers. To garner even more anticipation for their blockbuster bout set to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX on July 20th, the once-promising Disney Channel star and Hall of Fame boxing legend have been egging on one another. It appears to be working. The streaming behemoth Netflix will be exclusively streaming the fight on their platform.
Mike Tyson & Jake Paul Tease One Another Online
Ahead of their highly anticipated match-up set to air exclusively on Netflix, Mike Tyson and Disney Channel star-turned-YouTuber-turned-fighter Jake Paul have openly mocked one another on their social media feeds. The online ribbing started when Jake posted a tongue-in-cheek video on his official YouTube channel the day after news broke about the event to announce the fight was a go publicly. It was an 8-minute skit/reenactment. But Paul recreates interviews of Tyson He has had memorable moments he’s been involved in throughout his storied boxing career.
The Problem Child’s skit opened with him in a tattoo parlor getting a tattoo on his face. Boxing fans can probably guess what happened next. Jake Paul stood from his seat to reveal he got a replica of the famous Maori-style face tattoo Tyson is known for. He recreated his iconic faceoff between Iron Mike and Evander “the Real Deal” Holyfield in June 1987. Now known as the “Bite Fight”, after the two exchanged heavy blows with one another, Tyson bit off a portion of Holyfield’s right ear during their third round and spat out the cartilage on the mat. Paul recreated the bizarre moment frame by frame with an actor jumping in pain similar to Holyfield after spitting out a rubber ear made to look bloodied.
Mike Tyson Semi-Retired?
A reporter posed a question on why Netflix. They asked who was chosen as the network to host this event. Paul answered, “This is the first-ever professional live sports event on Netflix. With Netflix in over 500 million households and 260 million subscribers- we plan on this being the biggest fight of the 21st-century, dummy.”
In a more straight-laced response, Tyson filmed a short video showcasing him going hard in the gym. The 57-year-old boxing phenom delivers haymakers and exercises with his team before shouting emphatically. The reel ends with Iron staring into the camera, sopped in sweat warning Paul “You still wanna f— with me?”
The Media and Medical Community Weigh In on Tyson vs. Paul
Since the announcement of the two sets to duke it out, many in both the entertainment circle and medical community have weighed in with their thoughts. Former mixed martial artist Chael Sonnen not only believes Jake will win against Mike but that he also faked his videos exercising. “If you’re ever going to spend five seconds hitting mitts, as a way of making the audience believe you’re doing a training session, make sure you splash water on your face and T-shirt,” Sonnen wrote on X.

“Notorious” former UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor was weirded out by the announcement of Tyson vs. Paul. “It’s a bit strange. The interest is low and I don’t understand it,” McGregor replied.
Dr. Stephen Hughes, a senior lecturer in medicine at Anglia Ruskin University Warren stated due to the legend’s age, he could be at risk of a tearing of the veins within the brain called a subdural hematoma. He went on to share “The immediate effects may be minimal… but on some occasions, the effects may be devastating.”
Michael Bisping, a retired mixed martial artist and current sports analyst, affirmed Dr. Hughes’ comments sharing that “On average, something like 10 boxers die a year. So, there’s always a risk in boxing. But, of course, when you’re 58, that is going to be accelerated.”
