Olsson has been through a lot in the last few weeks. After being diagnosed with blood clots, he has had to re-earn multiple motor functions and verbal speech patterns.
The blood clots formed as a result from a rare inflammatory condition that harmed his brain blood vessels.
There is a long road ahead of him in terms of restoring 100% function and having the hope of playing soccer again.
However, the club is behind him all the way.
‘His physical progress is significant and he is now training his walking function…although cognitive challenges remain and the prognosis for his full recovery remains uncertain, the specialists at the treatment center are encouraged by the positive steps Kristoffer has taken.’
It must be encouraging and calming to have your club with you every step of the way during such a challenging time. Everyone at Midtjylland hopes Kristoffer will see the field again. Even if he is not able to don the jersey once more, his progress, determination, and motivation will hopefully lead to a full recovery.
Midtjylland’s manager, Steinlein, had more positive words to say about the midfielder’s tenacity and spirit.
‘It is breathtaking to witness Kristoffer’s fight against the disease. His positive attitude, fighting spirit, and tireless will to win are an inspiration.’
Kristoffer Olsson’s Decorated Career
Olsson decided to return to a familiar Scandinavian country of Denmark after having stints abroad during his younger years. The talented and promising midfielder played for Arsenal FC at a young age, the Premier League giants. He even captained Arsenal FC’s U19 team during the UEFA Youth League Quarter Final match vs. Barcelona in 2014.
His tactical awareness and technical ability has made him a hot prospect for his entire playing career. The former Arsenal man began his footballing days at IK Sleipner and IFK Norrkoping, a professional Swedish football club.
After gaining attention here, he made the switch to the Arsenal youth team. Olsson then played for Midtjylland for the first time between 2015-2017, amassing a respectable 44 appearances and recording 2 goals. Then, he spent time at AIK in Sweden, FC Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League, and Anderlecht in the Belgian league before returning to Midtjylland.
We wish for the very best and hope that Olsson makes a full recovery.
