Michele Pirro’s latest championship comes after the series ended the CIV Superbike season 2023 on a rather sour note. At Imola, he went on to have an accident with Lorenzo Zanetti with whom he had a heated exchange of words. Watching this, we see that Zanetti’s contact with him in Variante Bassa made Pirro fall and as a result, Zanetti clinched the title. Zanetti, however, did not defend his title this year, and his place has instead been occupied while he was racing in the IDM German Superbike Championship.
That means Zanetti decided to miss the CIV season to let Michele Pirro rule the series with his timely wins. Everything went into a five-round straight that sees Pirro leading 7 of 10 races. His only losses were in Race 1 at Mugello where Alessandro Delbianco emerged the winner and in Race 2 at Misano where Pirro was fourth. Luca Bernardi took victory in Race 2 at the Mugello circuit, but by the following time, he had already been crowned the champion.
