The Miami Heat needed someone to step up today. While there were heroes in this game, multiple players had big impacts today. Especially as Jimmy Butler was out today, it was good to see others taking responsibility against the Detroit Pistons. And although it was only a 3-point win, it continues to show how gritty this Heat team is. This was on the road, against a team that had been playing better.
The win is impressive, especially as they played without their best player. Furthermore, a lot of the deserved headlines will go toward the game-winner and how it came about. But there was a more underrated aspect to this game that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Do you see this team as a threat to making the Eastern Conference Finals?
Miami Heat Overlooked Feat
Bam Adebayo made the game-winning shot for the Miami Heat. However, there was one aspect that was completely overlooked. Duncan Robinson became the fastest player to make 1,000 three-pointers. This is the quickest a player has reached this mark throughout all of NBA history. It only took him 343 games to accomplish this feat.

And while he’s not considered the best shooter, he has a reputation as a three-point specialist. Even if he’s not at the level of Steph Curry or Klay Thompson, many would pick him to win a three-point contest against most other shooters on the planet. Therefore, this is not only a feat that deserves recognition but also something that will be difficult to see being broken anytime soon.
Miami Heat Surging at the Right Time
While some have questioned his overall abilities, he remains a consistent scoring threat for this Miami Heat team. Especially as there has been a lot of mix-up and shake-up throughout the roster, Robinson remains a reliable option. Although it’s becoming too rare nowadays, watching him stay on this team and continue to develop and grow in South Beach would be nice to see.
Miami Heat NBA Start
The product out of Michigan was out of the 2018 NBA draft. However, he joined the Miami Heat on the summer league team and earned a roster spot. He has since continued to grow his role from his rookie year and hopes to increase his 13.4 points per game output. Although many are expecting someone else to emerge from this conference, Duncan Robinson and the Miami Heat will ensure that whoever they face in the playoffs will have the battle of their lives.
