Miami Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel Called Out Star Receiver Tyreek Hill After Loss To Chiefs

The Miami Dolphins season ended with a whimper last year. After having one of the most prolific offenses in the league, they fell flat against the Kansas City Chiefs in a frigid playoff game. One player who underperformed was star receiver Tyreek Hill. He only caught five passes for 62 yards and a touchdown. Hill was bullied by L’Jarius Sneed for the whole game and afterward took to social media to congratulate the cornerback on a hard-fought battle. His head coach was not very happy about all of this and let him know.

It was Hill himself who revealed this happened during an appearance on Million Dollaz Worth of Game. The Miami Dolphins head coach laid into him about his performance. While other players may react negatively, the former Chiefs receiver was impressed that a coach would call him out like that.

“He called me out, he’s like, ‘Reek, you’re supposed to be the best player in the league, and you got this guy putting hands all over you like that. We pay you all this money for what?'” Hill said around the 20:00 mark. “And for me, I love s–t like that, because I’m gonna take s–t like that to heart and I’m gonna get better from it. That’d never happen again to me in my life. If a m—-rf—-r can’t hold me accountable, I feel like I’m not gonna be able to get better.”

The Miami Dolphins are paying Hill to be a top receiver. In today’s NFL, the offensive player has the advantage. While cornerbacks will win here and there, a player of Hill’s caliber should be able to figure out ways to make a difference. The Dolphins are an interesting team heading into 2024. While they aren’t the favorite, they still have tons of talent on the roster.

2024 Outlook

The Miami Dolphins still have some of the best skill positions in the NFL. Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, De’Von Achane, and Tua Tagovailoa are a dangerous unit. The issues are in the trenches. They lost defensive tackle Christian Wilkins in free agency and their offensive line is shaky at best. Miami needs to address some of these issues in the draft and in the late stages of free agency.

The other issue is their division is tough. New England has a pesky defense and isn’t an easy win. The Jets and the Bills are gunning for a Super Bowl as well. If we expand out to the conference, there are many teams who will pose difficult matchups. The Miami Dolphins have their work cut out for them. However, Tyreek Hill is one of the premier receivers in the NFL. He can break off a long touchdown run at a moment’s notice. If the Dolphins are going to do anything in 2024, the offense will be the reason.
