Mercedes Mone Was Planned to Return to WWE for Wrestlemania 39

Mercedes Mone Was Planned to Return to WWE

In the latest Mone Mag Newsletter, Mercedes Mone shared that she had planned to come back to WWE. She planned to come back to the organization at WrestleMania 39 but things didn’t go as planned. Moreover, AEW invited her to the ring, last year. So, she changed her mind and decided not to return after being invited to last year’s AEW in the All-In event at Wembley Stadium in London. Thereafter, Mercedes Mone left WWE in May 2022, along with Naomi.

Reason of Mercedes Mones’s Exit

Reports suggest she left because she was unhappy with the creative direction and worried about her role in the women’s division. In the newest Mone Mag newsletter, Mercedes Mone said she wanted to be part of WWE’s WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles. She also shared a story from before last year’s All In event. She had gone to an LA Rams game at the new Sofi Stadium, where she and her friend Kev were on the field. “The funny thing is that before last year’s All In, I attended an LA Rams game at the new Sofi stadium in LA. Kev and I were, of course, on the field for it – that’s just how we roll”.

Mercedes Mone Interested in WWE

Even though she enjoyed the game, she couldn’t stop thinking about WrestleMania. The big stadium and its location in Los Angeles seemed like the perfect place for her to be involved. When the game was finished, she told her friend that she wanted to be at WrestleMania, and that was her real plan at the time.

“It was fun, but in the back of my head, I kept thinking, ‘This is where WrestleMania is going to be.’ It’s an enormous, beautiful stadium in the tinsel town, the city of Angels. How could Snoop’s first cousin and a member of the Mandalorian cast NOT be here? Thus, at the end of the game, I leaned over to Kev and said, I need to be here for Mania.”

Tony Khan Inviting Mercedes Mones

Mercedes Mones was sure that she would go to WrestleMania again, but it was not until she was approached by Tony Khan. Tony Khan invited her to the AEW All-In at Wembley Stadium. But when she was invited to the stadium, there were no discussions about joining AEW and it happened all on the occasion. As Mercedes said herself, “I had planned on returning to WWE for WrestleMania in LA.” She clarified everything by saying, “That was, of course, before Tony invited us to see the show. Mind you, there were no discussions of signing with AEW. Zero. Tony, Kev. and I had texted as friends, but it was just a casual invite.”
