WWE Star Booker T watched the growth and increase in difficulty of the WWE women’s division. Throughout his time, the division had been accused of being thin, with few talents to carry it, save for Trish Stratus and Lita. It was evident that the number of talents under the spotlight was limited, and Melina had a specific role to carry. Following the release of both Stratus and Lita, she became a rising star in the women’s division. Eventually, she became a two-time Divas Champion and a three-time Women’s Champion.
According to Booker T., this was the case with Melina. He believes that her career could have gone even higher if she were in a different generation. Speaking about her in the latest episode of the “Hall of Fame” podcast, Booker has complained that Melina never got the chance to let her freak out. He revisited the memories of her work at the company, highlighting the fact that she was very talented and still had so much to offer, his view.
Booker T On Melina’s Untapped Potential
Booker T had a lot to about the potential of the female wrestler. He said:
Melina, she’s cool people, She is. She said hi to me a few times at some of the conventions, and whatnot. I spoke to Melina the last time we were at one of those conventions, and I told her that she was the best damn worker of her era. She was truly the best. Did she have a dark side? You bet she did. But as far as being the best worker at that time, in that company, nobody was better than her.
The two are attracted to each other, and she has a lot of respect and regard for Booker. He considers her the best worker of her time in WWE, a compliment that was given to the talent that is available out there today. As said by Booker, Melina possessed skills, charisma, and a work ethic that are hard to find in a beginner. However, despite her undeniable talent, Booker feels that the timing and circumstances of her career didn’t allow her to reach her full potential.
The Challenges And Highs of Malina
Melina’s WWE career was marked by success and difficulties at the same time. She became a prominent face on the women’s list, especially after the exits of Stratus and Lita. It was also during this time that memorable feuds with other wrestlers and championship victories put her in the spotlight. However, she also lost her niche at a certain time when the directions in the WWE were changing and she did not know how to fit in.
She was incredible, and Melina’s association with the MNM faction as well as the spark she brought from performing in the ring contributed to her cutting above the rest. However, according to her, she feels that her era was too capping, which held her back from achieving a greater level of success. He believes that if she had been able to compete in another era, particularly today’s women’s division, she would have accomplished more.
Melina has been relatively inactive in wrestling since the year 2022. Later that year, she briefly reappeared in WWE to partake in the Women’s Royal Rumble match, which many fans loved to witness. It was only in 2020 that the speculation started doing the rounds that Melina had signed a new contract to come back to WWE. However, the move never happened later on, with her stating that there were talks, but there was no way they could finalize the agreement.
