Mbappe Squeezed Nice to Contest in the Semis
Kylian Mbappe was among the first eleven in the squad against Nice on Wednesday night. Mbappe exhibited impressive skills and performance in the first half of the game. The PSG striker showed his importance after scoring PSG’s first goal in the 14th minute of the first half. Mbappe’s skillful passes led to Fabiaz conceding a brilliant goal after threading the ball past Marcin Bulka’s legs.
PSG managed to double their win 19 minutes later. Bulka’s mistake led to Nice being punished with the second goal after Bulka’s clearance went to Dembele. The ball spun towards Ruiz, who doubled the goal in a clear net. However, PSG’s defense has remained vulnerable over the past few years.
Nice managed to narrow the margin four minutes before the break to finish the first half with a 2-1 score. Nice striker Gaetan Laborde, who was unmarked in the penalty area, volleyed the ball into the far post to give Nice hope before the break.
The second half brought excitement, with Nice trying to equalize the difference in Paris. Jerome Boga, a Nice winger, and Jordan Lotomba missed clear chances, which could have equalized the difference. Despite the struggles to find the second goal, Nice was punished in the 60th minute of the match. Lucas Berloda squeezed the third goal into the far cross to give PSG a win.
PSG Improvements
PSG has performed impressively after securing 14 trophy records; however, since 2021, the club has not made it past Nice. “The team has improved, and I think we will keep improving,” said Luis Enrique. Moreover, PSG is at the top of the League 1 table, 10 points away from Lens. PSG also made it to the quarterfinals after thrashing Real Sociedad 4-1 in the aggregates.
