Kylian Mbappe was absent in the clash against Barcelona which might be the cause of Madrid’s defeat as Barcelona grabbed a victory by 2-1 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Real Madrid have failed to register a win in their last two matches as they lost to AC Milan before this match by 1-0.
On the other hand, Barcelona has also played two pre-season matches lately and has been able to win both of them, including one against Manchester City where they took the match to penalties and won. This match has to be paused after 11 minutes of the first half action due to the storms and fireworks being used by the fans.
The players rushed to their respective locker room and then it took an hour to resume the match again. After the match was resumed, Pau Victor broke the deadlock by scoring a tap-in which was settled up for him by Robert Lewandowski who received a cross from the right flank. Pau Victor again stood up to double the lead for the Catalans which then became very hard to take over for Real Madrid as they could only get one scored by Nico Paz.

Carlo Ancelotti had a few words to say In the post-match conference, he said: “Let’s not go crazy. They are preseason games, we are missing eight players…,”.The Italian stressed that“the objective now is to give minutes and get the players who return in shape”. These statements conclude that Carlo Ancelotti is taking down positive notes from this situation and is preparing for the future.
Real Madrid’s keeper, Thibaut Courtois also had some words to say post the defeat. The Belgium international shared that the team obviously doesn’t like to lose to Barcelona, even if it is a friendly. He later added by stating the statement confessed by his teammate Dani Carvajal in the previous pre-season, it goes and explains that Real Madrid will see who wins when it comes to the official league or tournaments, basically where it matters the most.
