Mauricio Pochettino Declared As USMNT Head Coach

Mauricio Pochettino has been chosen to be the new U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) coach. The Argentine who left the role of Chelsea Manager months back, has now secured the role of USMNT Head coach. It was earlier reported today that Mauricio Pochettino has been chosen to be the new head coach United States men’s national soccer team. This was based on sources who had the information about the update on the ground.

The appointment of Pochettino, who was once Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea manager, will seem interesting to the U.S. fanbase. The supporters who have been yearning for some kind of improvement in the USMNT would be expecting a top-quality coach. Pochettino is however not far off. This is true, especially in comparison to their former coach Gregg Berhalter.

Berhalter failed to help the US Men’s team to qualify beyond the group stage of the Copa America. Afterwards, he was fired, and now with the appointment of Pochettino, the fans will hope for Significant improvement. Mauricio Pochettino who is experienced in different leagues and tournaments will no doubt bring some improvement into the USMNT.

Pochettino’s Past Legacy

Pochettino started his career as a player, where he played as a center-back. He began his career with Newell’s Old Boy, and after he moved to Espanyol. The Argentine has also played for PSG and Bordeaux. He ended his soccer career at Espanyol. The Argentine also had his national team appearance which spanned between 1999 to 2002. He appeared for Argentina’s National team at the 2002 World Cup.

Pochettino began his coaching career at Espanyol, and after three years he moved to the Premier League. He started with Southampton, and after a year he became Tottenham Hotspur’s coach. So far has proven to be an impressive coach. He took the Spurs to the Champions League final in 2019, where he was bested by Liverpool. Years later he moved to PSG, where he was able to win the French Ligue 1. At the same time, he managed to get to the Semifinals of the Champions League. There he got eliminated by Pep Guardiola’s Man City.

Argentine’s Influence in the USMNT

Despite Ligue 1 being his only major trophy, he has proven to be a top-quality coach. He had reached different finals both as Chelsea, and Spurs coach, however, luck might have not been on his side. The USMNT would feel the difference in structure as Pochettino coaches the team. His experience and tactical prowess would positively influence the team.

The Argentine has been known to bring the best out of players. Names like Harry Kane, Son, and Dele Ali are proof of what he is capable of. The USMNT possesses a vast array of stars from different leagues. Less will not be expected from him when he deals with them.
