Jones, who turned 82 on October 15, has been having quite the week — and not only because of his 82nd birthday festivities. But at least Cuban, 66, showed support amid Jones’ struggles with the Cowboys.
Cuban sat at a desk with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and Shae Peppler Cornette when Smith, 57, and Cornette, 38, teased a segment about what Jones said in a heated exchange on 105.3 The Fan. On Sunday, Jones’ Dallas Cowboys suffered a 47-9 beatdown by the Detroit Lions at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. But the Cowboys’ tough loss to the Lions wasn’t the only topic discussed, as 105.3 The Fan’s Shan and RJ asked Jones about the Cowboys’ offseason moves.
Jones Sounds Off
Jones got defensive and told 105.3 The Fan, “This is not your job … Your job isn’t to let me go over all the reasons that I did something and I’m sorry that I did it. That’s not your job. I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions. I’m not kidding. You’re not going to figure out what the team is doing right or wrong. If you are, or any five or 10 like you, you need to come to this (NFL) meeting I’m going to today with 32 teams here, you’re geniuses.”
“You really think you’re gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I’ve done wrong without going over the rights? Listen, we both know we’re talking to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners. And I’m very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I’m sick about what happened Sunday.”
Jones got his point across to Shan and RJ. Jones’ displeased look in his suite at AT&T Stadium on Sunday spoke volumes while sparking discussions. He appeared to be disgusted watching the Lions blow out the Cowboys in Arlington, just like Cowboys fans showed disgust on social media.

Mark Cuban put Jerry Jones’ current situation into perspective, as Cuban feels bad for Jones. Neither billionaire necessarily needs you to feel sorry for them, but Cuban seemed to understand Jones’ situation, including his recent outburst on local radio in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Jones’ recent behavior wasn’t polite, but his blowup and alleged threat to have the two radio hosts replaced were arguably acceptable. Jones was asked questions about why his Cowboys were worse than the Lions, but it remains unclear if he had the power to do so. But he was tired of being asked the same questions over and over again. The radio hosts could’ve just varied their questions.
Mark Cuban Would Disagree With Shannon Sharpe
Mark Cuban would likely disagree with Shannon Sharpe, a member of the “First Take” family on ESPN. Sharpe, 56, was very upset with Jerry Jones and slammed Jones for his conduct during a recent radio interview at 105.3 The Fan. Sharpe even said that he would celebrate the Cowboys’ disappointments until Jerry Jones no longer owns the Cowboys.
It was Jones’ choice to go on radio interviews. However, Jones wasn’t the only public figure who blew up at the media and allegedly threatened to have the media members fired. Some of the media members’ questions are repetitive, foolish, or personal attacks, such as The Denver Post columnist Sean Keeler who questioned Colorado Buffaloes Head Coach Deion Sanders with “sustained, personal attacks” and was banned by Colorado.
