Mariah May Wins AEW Women’s World Title at AEW All In 2024

Toni Storm, Mariah May

In one of AEW’s best stories in the history of the company, Mariah May defeated “Timeless” Toni Storm to win the AEW Women’s World Title at All In 2024. Mariah May was the protege of Toni Storm when she entered the company but was able to win the 2024 Owen Cup on the women’s side to get this match and wound up winning the AEW Women’s’ World Title. Let’s take a deeper dive into the match and what is next for both women going forward.

What is next for AEW Women’s World Title holder Mariah May?

Mariah May was able to fully showcase her heel tendencies throughout the match as she slapped her own mother who was ringside and continued to push the limit. However, it is clear that the decision-makers at All Elite Wrestling are high on Mariah May and what she can be going forward. The company can build the division around her to be one major pillar on the women’s side of things. While we can see the likes of Britt Baker or Jamie Hayer going after the AEW Women’s World Title, there is another name that could be intriguing.

With Mercedes Mone currently holding the TBS Championship, why wouldn’t Kamille target the AEW Women’s World Title so that the duo could be the dominant force of the AEW Women’s division? It tells a bit of a story and makes Kamille look like a dominant force. She hasn’t wrestled much since debuting at AEW Blood and Guts but this would make sense.

We have seen Toni Storm become a hot mess as a character after losing the AEW Women’s World Title and after the match, she seemingly transitioned back to that character as she was laughing and crying while exiting the ring. They do not need to rush into a second match after AEW All in 2024, but there is certainly a story for another match, which itself did not disappoint. With the addition of Mira Shirakawa into this as well, there is still some meat to the bone.

It will be interesting to see exactly what is next for Toni Storm but she should not be competing for the AEW Women’s World Championship now. She can tell stories without being in the title picture for a little while.
