Manjrekar Lauds Jasprit Bumrah’s Amazing Heroics: Takes a Dig at Kohli After T20 World Cup Thriller

Jasprit Bumrah

Taking to Twitter, former cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar was appreciative of Jasprit Bumrah’s gutting performance. while tossing indirect shade at Virat Kohli after India’s win over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup match played on Sunday.

It was a do-or-die stage for the Indian team in a critical match where their batting department failed to deliver under pressure. Still, Bumrah’s splendid bowling performance made sure that India won the game in a crunch situation.

The Indian team managed to secure only 119 runs, which is the worst they have scored against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. But with the bat, they matched up to expectations, and it was with the ball that Jasprit Bumrah and Co. created a record and ensured the Indian domination over arch enemies.

Even Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets off 14 barren deliveries, leaving the Pakistani batsmen in trouble and eventually bringing victory to India by six wickets, securing the match.

Manjrekar’s Subtle Criticism of Kohli

Although praising Bumrah along these lines, Manjrekar could not help poking fun at Kohli, who has been the center of media debates preceding the Pakistan match. Kohli, who has been in good form even in high-profile T20Is against arch-rivals Pakistan, was out cheaply for a four. He tried to escape with a large margin in the first half but failed to do so as Usman Khan dismissed him, thus making it a sour day for the batting powerhouse.

Manjrekar stirred controversy when he claimed that the Indian cricket board pays significantly more attention to Virat Kohli than to Jasprit Bumrah, the star performer in death overs. Jasprit Bumrah makes games for India, and today was no different. He is by far the best player on the Indian team, and he has been for a while now.

India’s Bowling Masterclass

The Indian bowling unit, particularly Jasprit Bumrah, was able to put the brakes on the Pakistan side and limit them to 113 for seven in their 20 overs, successful in defending their target of 119 on that tough pitch. Jasprit Bumrah finished his penultimate over for a mere 3 runs and dismissed the dangerous Iftikhar Ahmed in the process, which tilted the game back in India’s favor.

Hardik Pandya also contributed with figures of 2/24, making up for his failure with the bat. Arshdeep Singh had a relatively easier task in the final over, needing to defend 18 runs, which he did successfully, securing the win for India. Siraj, who did not take have any wicket to his name, played a crucial role in containing Pakistan’s attack. There was no bowler in the Indian lineup, who was expensive on the day. The discipline of the entire bowling attack led the team to victory.
