Manchester United’s 2 losses show sign of things to come

Manchester United

The current FA Cup Champions, Manchester United, show signs of no improvement from last season, despite the new inclusions of two young prodigies. Although making new promises about a fresh start and implementing changes, ten Hag lacks the ability to guide his squad on a better soccer path. The US Tour gave a bitter lesson to the manager for overhyping the new players. However, the three major losses can affect team morale for their upcoming season, this could lead them to their eventual downfall.

In the last games, player performances have not been up to the mark and could force the coach to consider replacing his options. The club is lacking defensively as well as on attack, which dismantles the whole squad. This is the least positive start that fans could have hoped for. Players getting low ratings in crucial matches can affect the morale of the squad. Those performances against Liverpool and Rosenborg tell the story of how they lack training and discipline in different aspects, despite having one of the best squads in Europe.

At the start of the first US tour campaign, the Red Devils faced Rosenborg, where they lost 1-0. Despite having Marcus Rashford and Casemiro in the team, ten Hag played lots of teenagers in the squad because of the Euros. Due to inexperience and the lack of chemistry, the team did not play with confidence. They even conceded 22 shots and 7 shots on the target. They even played in games lacking majority possession.

The defense was left out cold despite having two of the more experienced players. This is a team that was playing defense a lot of the time against Arsenal, Real Betis, and Liverpool. Their Premier League rival thrashed them 3-0, and the players got the lowest ratings in their overall performances. Even though Manchester United shot more on target, they still failed to secure a single goal. Liverpool secured a close win, leaving United in the dust.

Players That Are Holding United Back

There are some players whose performances are keeping the club in the dark. Although there are experienced and above-average players, they still lack the attributes that are needed for professional players. Johnny Evans is a United legend who had a fantastic career at the club. His physique and toughness can block any player. However, his rust and heartbreaking performance have cost United. His age might be the reason for his downfall. Aaron Wan Bissaka signed under Ole Gunnar Solsksjaer during his tenure. He is known for his explosive and unpredictable sliding tackles.

Yet, his involvement in crossing is not in the arc of the best right back. Wan Bissaka has agreed to sign for West Ham. The Madrid legend Casemiro, since he debuted at United, has been missing his prime form for a very long time. His blunders in passing, defending, and creating chances are noticeable to everyone. Marcus Rashford is currently struggling with his poor form, as his injury days are not over. In his overall career, he has scored 131 goals in 402 matches, which makes it 0.32 goals per shot in every match.

The Endgame for United as They Will Face Manchester City

His poor form in dribbling, finishing, and carrying the game, has made Rashford a second preference. He was also linked to PSG multiple times. The wonder-boy from Chelsea, Mason Mount, has proved that his heart is not in the right place, due to his bad performances in the games; he only scored one goal in 20 matches. Draining his game due to the lack of confidence and support, he tends to remain in the substitute.

The current performances and situation for the club can lead to a worse aftermath as they will face Manchester City for the Community Shield. Two of the United’s reliable signings, Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund, are injured. Therefore, Manchester City’s previous signings Kalvin Philips and Joao Cancelo are back on loan. Although United has won the FA Cup finals against City with the help of Mainoo and Garnacho, Pep can warm up his men to win the battle against the Reds.
