Manchester United are once again edging closer to the FA Cup final. Last season they progressed into the FA Cup final, after overcoming a troublesome Brighton side in a penalty shootout. With the look of things, this year’s semi-finals seem to be easier for the Red Devils.
Their quarter-final game against Liverpool ended up being a narrow win for them. Hence, they were immediately drawn against Coventry. A second-division side that had also shocked Wolves in the quarter-finals.
Nevertheless, the fixture seems an easy run to the Final. But their superstar goalie feels different about the game.
Manchester United’s Run in the FA
Despite their shabby performance in the league, Manchester United have progressed well in the FA. They started their FA Cup campaign against Wigan in the third Round.
Goals from Dalot and Bruno Fernandes gave them a 2-0 win. Therefore they progressed into the second round.
In the fourth round, they played against Newport. It was a bit tricky for the Red Devils but they edged the second-division side 4-2.
The fifth round became more intense as they faced Nottingham Forest away. They managed a win, thanks to a late-minute header from Casemiro.
In the quarter-finals, they encountered an in-form Liverpool side. They were on the verge of losing the game, until a die-minute goal from Antony, which they later won the game late in the second half Extra time.
Later that night they were drawn against Coventry. The second-division side made a unique comeback against the Wolves to qualify for the Quarterfinals.
Andre Onana’s View About the Game
Manchester United’s goalie has expressed his opinion over their semi-final fixture.
The keeper believes that the game will not be an easy challenge. Even though they’ll be playing against a second-division side. He made it known that they will take a serious approach to playing them. Buttressing his point further, he highlighted that the game will be played like a final.
Onana had a rough start to the United’s season. But as it stands he’s arguably their best player. His influence will be highly needed off and on the pitch in their semi-final game and other upcoming EPL fixtures.
More hurdles to come
Manchester United will be hoping to sneak their way into the top four. Although it seems almost impossible. Yet if they win all their remaining fixtures, they might have a shot at the top four. Man Utd will host Sheffield on Wednesday, after their FA Cup semi-final. Their remaining fixtures will include Burnley, Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Brighton.
