Manchester United’s Gamechanger Fueling Man City’s League Victory

Manchester City has four games to play and knows four wins will secure a fourth-straight Premier League title,  but dropped points for Arsenal before that could see City crowned champions sooner. Fast-forward to May 11, City could move five clear (on 85 points) if they beat Fulham in the early kick-off at Craven Cottage.

Arsenal then face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, May 12. City would be champions if they were to drop points in that game. In short, if Arsenal takes none or one point from their next two games and City wins both of theirs, the Blues will be champions with two matches to spare.

Which team is most likely to win the Premier League?

Last season was an uplifting campaign for Manchester United as Erik ten Hag led a disheveled team out of the darkness of their worst-ever Premier League season and towards a bright new future. The Dutchman immediately secured a return to the Champions League by leading United to third in the league, beating all their major rivals at least once.

This season is now in the Sixth position off 13 points to secure a Champion League spot. Now it’s up to him to lead the club back to where they truly belong, winning the biggest trophies. Pep Guardiola’s Complete Record vs Manchester United

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will again battle with Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United for the FA Cup trophy at the end of this season after both Manchester clubs booked their place in the final of the domestic cup. With pressure on United boss Ten Hag, the man in the opposite chair, Guardiola, remains one of the best coaches in world football.

The 2024 FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium may be the last time Ten Hag and Guardiola battle with the Dutchman under increasing pressure after what has been a terrible campaign for the Red Devils.

“We were close again (to the treble) but it didn’t happen. So my advice about trebles or doubles or these things is, why are we not focused on Chelsea? It’s enough of a target to think about. When you have one or two games left to the end of the Premier League and you are already in the FA Cup final, I can answer you perfectly.”

Odds are Stacked in Manchester City’s Favor, but There Could be a Twist

Man City's Recent 2-0 Victory Piles Pressure on the Gunners

The odds, though, are stacked heavily in City’s favor. Not just that they have been champions in the past three seasons with a knowhow of how to keep their wits under pressure, not just that they possess late-season invulnerability, but their players raise their game by several notches when the finish-line starts to glimmer in their sight.

Although Guardiola, or any other manager, doesn’t prefer taking a title pursuit down to the wire, City thrive in such situations when they know they can’t afford to lose or draw a game.

“They like to play with pressure. They know it’s dead or alive,  Manchester City needs to win all of their remaining four matches if they are to be 2023/24 Premier League champions.
