Manchester United Trying to Steal ‘Key Staff Member’ from Arsenal FC

Manchester United are in the works of securing a key staff member from Arsenal FC, their direct competition in the Premier League. Players jumping ship is one thing – clubs can get money from the player, negotiate transfer fees, or spend the earned money on new squad members that can benefit their entire team. But when a staff member transfers to another club, it is a huge issue for the club’s security and privacy.

Staff members could spill secrets, tell the new management about the other team’s tactics and playing styles, and potentially leak key secrets that could see the ‘old’ team play poorly in the league. This is the worry that Arteta at Arsenal FC now faces, with one of his most trusted staff squad members going to Manchester United for the 2024-2025 Premier League Season.

According to news sources within the UK, Arsenal physiotherapist could be on the move to Manchester United to try and keep the new squad’s players fit and healthy for the remainder of the season. Instead of staying at the current North London outfit, physiotherapist Jordan Reece currently working for Arteta and the Gunners could make a permanent move to Northeast England and head to Manchester United next year.

But, why is this such a big deal? Well, the medical staff, physiotherapists, doctors, and athletic trainers at football clubs are the people who keep the players healthy. If a club purchases a player for $100 million, but he can’t stay healthy throughout the season, that is money wasted that they could have spent on another player, added to another contract, or benefitted the facilities in some way.

The physiotherapists are in charge of keeping every single squad member fit and ready to take the pitch to justify the price tag the club paid. If the physiotherapist can keep the squad members healthy, the club is in a financially sound position. If not, the club could be struggling with nagging injuries, requiring players to come back on loan, and unexpected transfers into the team.

At Manchester United, the physiotherapist and medical staff department is run by Dr. Gary O’Driscoll – a man who used to be part of the staff at Arsenal FC. The new management means that he wants to work with trusted staff members who he has collaborated with in the past, like Reece. O’Driscoll is comfortable working with his ex-employee and is trying to get him to make the move to United to help the team cope with a squad filled with consistent injuries.

Last season, United had numerous injuries that could have potentially cost them a much higher spot in the table. Casemiro was injured for much of the season and then had to slot into center back, because many of their defenders, like Martinez and Luke Shaw, were injured for the majority of the year.

If Manchester United can secure Read to come to their team, they will be getting ‘one of the best’ in the world.

He is well known for being able to work with other Premier League players, like Gabriel Jesus, to get them back in fighting form. If United can secure the move, they could potentially solve their injury crisis going into the 2024-2025 Premier League campaign.
