Manchester United are currently in serious talks with Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 in France to determine if one of their players will be headed to England next year. Manchester United needs a serious rebuilding off-season to help propel the team to a better finish in the 2024-2025 campaign. They had a disastrous last season in the Premier League and need to bring in some new energy to get the club on the right foot again.
But will their new PSG signing do just that? Let’s find out a bit more about this potential deal.
Manchester United to Bring in PSG Transfer
Manchester United have made contact, the first of many steps, to potentially bring in a big-name star from PSG in Ligue 1 in Paris where the team has their home matches. Paris Saint-Germain is one of the biggest clubs in the world and rivals Man U in terms of prowess and quality of players. Getting a player from PSG to come to the Premier League would be a huge get for the Red Devils.
Manchester United has made it known to PSG they are interested in Manuel Ugarte, the talented and creative midfielder who is interested in heading to England to further his playing career. United has made contact with PSG about a possible move for his contract to come to Merseyside and leave the French league in the past.
Many other players have also been linked to joining Manchester United in the off-season transfer window, like Koopmeiners and Alvarez. However, one of the most promising moves that seems to be just days, or weeks, away is the PSG transfer of Ugarte to Man U.
Manchester United knows they need to do better in the midfield. They struggled in the center of the park this year, which could partially be due to a change in formation, Casemiro’s injury and moving to the defensive line, defender injuries that lasted the entire season, and Fernandes having trouble linking with the attacking line.
Manchester was toward the bottom of the PL rankings in terms of stats of passes, shots, and crosses, but Ugarte’s stats at PSG could be exactly what they need.
He ranked first in the squad in terms of tackles per game, interceptions per game, and match rating, showing how influential he was in breaking up play from the other teams and passing to his teammates. He made an average of almost 4 tackles per game and almost two interceptions per game, helping his team with counterattacks.
Manchester United Going Forward
Manchester United had a huge midfield problem last year, including injuries to Mason Mount, Casemiro’s possible departure this upcoming year, and Amrabat heading back to his club; they need to bolster their ranks for next season. Despite having talented players like Eriksen and Mainoo, bringing in a fresh new player can be good for morale and squad depth.
United will hope to do better than their eight-place finish last season and break into the top five spots so they can play in the Europa Games and the Champions League competition. Only time will tell if Ugarte makes the move to the English Premier League.
