Shocking: Star Manchester City Shot Stopper Confirms His Exit for 2024 Season

In a twist that no one saw coming, the Manchester City keeper has decided that the 2023-2024 Premier League season would be his last. Unlike other City players who want to stay under the reign of Guardiola to see if they can win yet another season under his guidance, the man between the posts decided to look elsewhere for the upcoming 2024 season.

Manchester City Keeper to Leave

Manchester City keeper, Ederson, has decided to leave the Blues after an incredible offer was given to him by a Saudi Pro League team. Just like other Premier League greats, like N’golo Kante from Chelsea, or La Liga legends, like Benzema, it seems like the Manchester City keeper could be headed to Saudi Arabia due to the lucrative contracts offered by the top-tier teams there.

al-Nassr, the team that went after other elite players like Neymar, have decided to put all of their eggs in one basket and offer Ederson a whopping $500,000+ a week offer for him to come to their league next season. The money is almost so much that Ederson could be unable to refuse such a lucrative deal for him and his future.

Despite the Saudi Pro League not holding nearly as much status as other elite leagues in the world, like La Liga, Ligue 1, and the Premier League, the amount of money in the system is enough to turn heads and bring some players — even when they are in their prime — to the country.

Al-Nassr has Ederson in their crosshairs as he is tempted to quit Manchester City after the team made the offer. And it makes sense that they would go after him — he kept 13 clean sheets throughout the season, starting and playing in 33 games for City and Pep’s side this year.

Along with being one of the best shot-stoppers in the world at the minute, he is also incredible at using his feet, making him another player on the field the defensive line can use to swing the ball around and play out of pressure. He has an 86.7% pass completion rate from the back line and can also offer a nearly 72% save percentage.

During his time at City, he has made more than 33 appearances during his last six seasons. He has also made numerous appearances in UEFA Champions League Matches, Club World Cup matches, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Community Shield, the EFL Cup, and the International Champions Cup. Ederson first joined City back in 2017 and has made a whopping 250 appearances for the club, signaling that he could be looking for a new challenge.

Before heading to City, he played for Ribeirao, Rio Ave, Benfica B team, and Benfica, before impressing at the Portuguese club and making the big jump up to the Premier League while he was in his mid-20s.

Manchester City Looking Forward

Next year, Pep will hope to recreate the success that they had this past season. They won the Premier League, yet again, against all odds, coming from behind to beat Arsenal and knock Liverpool off of the top spot. They are looking at the possibility of getting more players, like Dani Olmo, in the transfer window to bolster their ranks.

If Pep Guardiola can keep key players in Manchester City, and make sure that they give the best players what they want — like DeBruyne and Akanji — there is no doubt they will do well in the Premier League next season.
