Team India won the T20 World Cup in Barbados, defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final on June 29.
The Indian cricket team has been invited to celebrate their win in the Maldives. This special invitation was made by the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and the Maldives Association of the Tourism Industry.
Team India, who were recently named T20 global champions, have been asked to celebrate their victory in the Maldives by the country’s tourist organization and marketing and public relations company.
Team India’s Cricket Victory and Celebration
Team India led by Rohit Sharma won the championship in Barbados, defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final on June 29.
“The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives), in partnership with the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), has issued a special and open invitation to the Indian National Cricket Team,” a statement issued by the two organizations stated.
The MMPRC issued a press release on Monday, stating that it was an open invitation to congratulate the Indian cricket team on their thrilling victory at the Men’s T20 World Cup in June.
The CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC, Ibrahim Shiuree, and the Secretary General of MATI, Ahmed Nazeer, conveyed their sincere congratulations and appreciation for the team’s amazing success.

Maldives Invites Team India on Vacation
The Indian team returned to India last Thursday when excited supporters in Delhi and Mumbai greeted them. Both cities had victory parades for lakhs of fans. Shiuree stated that hosting the team India would be a great honor for the Maldives.
He concluded: “We eagerly await the opportunity to host them, offering the perfect setting for them to create lasting memories of their victory celebration.”
The team’s next international engagement is a six-match limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, which begins on July 27 and includes three ODIs and three T20Is. Shiuree and Nazeer emphasized that this invitation demonstrates the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
They are looking forward to giving the crew a calm and delightful experience throughout their stay. Team India’s recent victory has only deepened these relationships.
Will Team India fly to the Maldives? There is no assurance that the Indian squad would fly to the Maldives for a lavish and lovely vacation.
Most of the Indian gladiators will be back for the Sri Lanka series, along with a new head coach, so they should surely consider traveling to the island country before returning to cricket in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, the proximity of Colombo and Male makes the journey more comfortable for the team.
Political Relations and Travel Plans
In January 2024, political ties between India and the Maldives deteriorated due to insulting statements made by Maldivian cabinet officials and concerns raised about racism directed against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India.
Given the political tensions between the two countries, Maldives Tourism’s invitation to the team India might be seen positively.
The squad is currently on holiday and will face Sri Lanka in a six-match limited-overs series beginning on July 27. The series will include three One-Day Internationals and as many Twenty20 Internationals.
The United States and the West Indies jointly hosted the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in June.
The final, held on June 29 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, ended on a nail-biting note with team India defeating South Africa by seven runs to capture their first World Cup championship since the tournament’s inception in 2007.
