Although Doncic’s 25 dunks were far from other NBA stars’ average of 100 dunks per season, a lopsided 25:2 ratio has been a cause of concern in recent days.

According to Basketball Reference, .022% of Doncic’s field goal attempts were dunks during his rookie NBA season in 2018-19. Doncic’s dunk numbers have been trending in a similar direction for most of his NBA career so far. Only .012% of his shots were dunk attempts in 2019-20, as the trend continued with .008% in 2020-21, .006% in 2021-22, and .010% in 2022-23 before his career-low of .001% in 2023-24.
