Luka Doncic, Draymond Green Among Biggest NBA Complainers

Draymond Green and Luka Doncic

De’Aaron Fox recently said that Dallas Mavericks Point Guard Luka Doncic and Golden State Warriors Power Forward Draymond Green are among the biggest NBA complainers. Fox, who is 26 and will turn 27 on December 20, has been a point guard for the Sacramento Kings since 2017. Fox is a current NBA player, so his words about his fellow NBA players, Doncic, 25, and Green, 34, are a topic of interest in professional basketball.

Fox recently appeared on the “Run It Back” podcast, hosted by Chandler Parsons, Lou Williams, and Michelle Beadle, and was asked if he thought that Doncic was the biggest complainer in the NBA. Fox responded to the podcast’s panelists and proceeded to take an arguably hilarious dig at Green, who has been dubbed as one of the NBA’s loudest players. Here are Fox’s words.

Luka Doncic Is Up There

In a recent appearance on the “Run It Back” podcast, De’Aaron Fox was asked if he thought Luka Doncic was the biggest complainer in the league. Fox responded to former NBA players Chandler Parsons and Lou Williams, “Luka [Doncic] is up there … Draymond [Green] will clothesline you and then look at the ref [referee] like, ‘What’d I do?’ I think a lot of guys definitely have it. Sometimes it’s warranted.”

Fox’s response was arguably a fair assessment of Doncic and Green. Doncic’s history with the referees goes way back, as he has an infamous reputation for complaining to NBA officials. Doncic has neared the top of the NBA in technical fouls, as of 2022. Green’s high-profile reputation as a man of many words, thoughts, and actions. Green often expresses his disappointment at his fellow NBA players, and likely gave Doncic and Fox a piece of his mind as Western Conference foes.

Draymond Green Is Vocal

Draymond Green is vocal on and off the court. Green has a history of having rough foul calls and technical fouls for arguing those foul calls. Green also has a history of carrying out violent, impulsive acts, such as the on-court moment when he pushed and shoved Golden State Warriors teammate Jordan Poole on October 5, 2022, and the off-the-court incident when he was arrested for punching Michigan State Football player Jermaine Edmondson in a bar fight in East Lansing, Michigan.

Being vocal can be considered good because one would allow for open communication and an increase in personal growth and advocacy. But, in Green’s case, being vocal does more harm than good. The NBA has fined Green on various occasions, such as a $50,000 fine for his tampering comments on Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker on August 9, 2020.

Doncic vs. Green

According to De’Aaron Fox, Luka Doncic and Draymond Green are two of the NBA’s biggest complainers. Fox had an opinion on the arguable topic in a recent episode of the “Run It Back” podcast. But there’s more to the Doncic vs. Green debate than meets the eye, as both players are high-profile stars for their respective teams. Doncic has been playing professional basketball since 2018, while Green has a slight edge, as he has been playing since 2012.

Green’s four NBA championships outshine Doncic’s lack of NBA championships. Green might be overly nice to Doncic when the Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks play each other, which is possibly a low-key strategy to “poking the bear,” a phrase meaning intentionally trying to make someone angry.

Nothing is set in stone, so Green can change his behavior when he and the Warriors take on Doncic and the Mavericks. The Mavericks signed former Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson in the 2024 NBA offseason, so Green can step up his on-court attacks in the next Warriors and Mavericks matchup at the American Airlines Center on February 12, 2025, at 8:30 p.m. Central.
