Luka Doncic Dodged a Bullet With Right Leg Injury

Luka Doncic sustained an injury in last night's game, but was unable to return.

Dallas Mavericks Point Guard Luka Doncic reportedly dodged a bullet with his right leg injury on Tuesday night in an away game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Doncic, 25, was seen hobbling to the locker room during the Timberwolves vs. Mavericks game at the Target Center.

The world wasn’t about to end, but the Mavericks experience a red-alert moment whenever Doncic hobbles to the locker room. Read on for further details regarding Doncic’s right leg injury, including the latest updates on Doncic and the Mavericks.

Luka Doncic’s Right Leg Injury

Luka Doncic’s right leg injury likely left the Dallas Mavericks scared about the team’s short-term future. Doncic moved in the paint, went down on the court, and clutched the back of his right leg. Afterward, Doncic’s request to be removed from the game was granted. Minnesota Timberwolves Forward Jaden McDaniels appeared to knee him in the back of his leg.

Doncic was spotted limping to the locker room with 1:10 left in the first half of the game. Subsequently, Dallas seemed to hold their breath, but the team eventually dodged a bullet. Doncic’s injury wasn’t so scary, as he returned in the third quarter with an extra support sleeve on his right leg.

After the game, Doncic recalled to Mavs.com, “It got a little scary … There are a lot of injuries happening. It’s pretty sore now … I stopped and somebody kneed me from behind. My knee went forward. It was not good feelings.”

Luka Doncic Suffers Injury Scare

Luka Doncic suffered an injury scare, but he has seemingly not allowed this injury — or any other injury — to define him and his career. Doncic’s right leg injury was sustained on Tuesday night and wasn’t ideal, but the important part was that he returned to the court.

But, at the same time, Luka Doncic wasn’t fully healthy. Doncic’s extra support sleeve on his right leg was proof that the Dallas Mavericks might’ve rushed his return to the court, given his previous history of being prone to injuries, such as ankle, back, and knee, in the past.

Luka Doncic’s play wasn’t smooth like butter in the second half. Doncic air-balled a jump shot and shot just 10-of-27 from the field. However, Doncic’s dagger three-pointer, which was from 32 feet, with 1:04 left in regulation put the Mavericks up 117-109.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Dallas Mavericks

The Minnesota Timberwolves welcomed the Dallas Mavericks to Minneapolis on Tuesday night. The new-look Timberwolves acquired Power Forward Julius Randle, a Dallas native, and Shooting Guard Donte DiVincenzo in a trade that sent Power Forward Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks.

Though the Timberwolves sported a new look, the team was similar to the opponent the Mavericks faced in the Western Conference Finals and eliminated in five games. Timberwolves Head Coach Chris Finch spoke of Randle to the media, “He gives us physicality offensively, he’s a hit-first guy … He’s created a lot of great offense for his teammates. I think that’s something we’ve really benefited from. It’s been fun to have him.”
