Luis De La Fuente spoke about his team so far after Spain wrapped up their Nations League games for September. La Roja had started the campaign with a 0-0 draw against Serbia, which was a bit disappointing for the team. However, they returned strongly to dismantle Switzerland in a 4-1 victory despite being a man down.
Luis De La Fuente hailed his players for their display of character and confidence. He spoke well of Ferran Torres, Fabian Ruiz, and others in the team praising their quality.

Luis De La Fuente spoke about how influential the two Spaniards were in their 4-1 win despite being a man down. He also referenced how they’ve improved since their draw against Serbia.
He spoke about Ferran Torres saying: “I’ve been with Ferran since he was sixteen, and I know what he’s going to give us. He is a very beloved player and sometimes, unfortunately, and like some other players, little recognized. We know him very well, these doubts will be generated by other colleagues (referring to journalists), but he does not generate the slightest doubt for me.”
He also continued about Fabian Ruiz, and he said: “For me, he is one of the best in the world in his position. I’m not surprised by his goals and performance”, he said at full time.
Luis De La Fuente on the Players in General
The Spanish Coach spoke about his players’ efforts and character in the game. He said: “I feel like we are doing something important for a country, that people identify with this group of players, We grow from humility and sacrifice as a team. I am proud of this group of players, which never ceases to surprise me.
Luis De La Fuente continued: “If there’s one thing I like to boast about, it’s the pride I’ve always felt for this team. When these circumstances happen, one feels more proud, but to highlight a group of players that is a team, not a national team.”
Luis De La Fuente is on the 10-man disadvantage

Luis De La Fuente was very pleased and he said: “This team has plenty of self-esteem and humility because what they are doing is historic. With 10 men, we have been able to interpret the game masterfully. I am very proud of this team and every day we see that we continue to grow and that we can improve.”

The Spanish coach also talked about Joselu who was very impressive in the game. He said: “I’m very happy for everyone, especially for Joselu because he deserves it, He had the best game since he’s been with us, he did everything we asked of him, both when we had 11 and when we were down to 10.
He added: “We were playing a very complete game. Pedri was playing a great game, but we understood that to have the chances we had, we had to make that change. We felt very powerful. With 10 players, we played the perfect game, we defended very well, we had a great goalkeeper…”
