Los Angeles Lakers 21-Year Vet Revealing End to Unbelievable Run

The NBA trade market has not been good during this offseason.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has revealed that his Hall of Fame career is nearing the end. LeBron has been in the league for 21 seasons.

LeBron James was honest in a meeting with the reporters after the Lakers were eliminated. LeBron stated, “I don’t know when that door will close, but I don’t have much time left.” The news is not a surprise to most people as there is little left for LeBron to accomplish.

LeBron James is the all-time leading scorer in NBA history. He’s also a four-time NBA Champion, having won championships on every team he’s played for. He’s one of the greatest players of all time, and there are few mountains left for him to climb at this stage of his basketball career.

LeBron James is still playing at a high level, so it’s not an issue of whether or not he’s still contributing to the Lakers. He led the Lakers to the first-ever In-Season Tournament Championship in the 2023-24 season. When it mattered, though, the Lakers were eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs for a second straight season.

What This Means for the Lakers

The Lakers are in a weird spot as a franchise, though it’s not as drastic as others. They’ve assembled a decent roster, but it’s on the older side, similar to their rivals. Head Coach Darvin Ham is not promised to return next season, and they just got bounced out in the first round easily by the same team that eliminated them last season.

Anthony Davis is a big-name star, but he also saw Jamal Murray make two game-winners in the playoffs right in his face. The rest of the team doesn’t fit how you would expect a team led by LeBron James to look. The three-point shooting is spotty at best, and there’s no dominant rebounding center.

The Lakers could make drastic changes, especially after players looked unmotivated during the postseason. LeBron is heading to the end of his career, and the team will likely look to hold onto him to maximize profits before his retirement. The team needs to make some serious changes.

While he’s not the LeBron James of 2016 anymore, he’s good for a solid 30-40 minutes of high-level production when he’s playing. If the Lakers are keeping him, the team needs to be built around his skillset. They’re at a crossroads this offseason, and it is time for them to make a decision.

Lebron Could Team Up with Son on Lakers

It’s possible that the Lakers could use the 2024 NBA Draft to select Bronny James. LeBron’s son has entered both the transfer portal and the NBA Draft. The Lakers could use a solid defensive guard on the basketball court, as the team has been missing a good one since losing Alex Caruso.

LeBron has also been incredibly open and honest about his desire to play on the same team as his son. The Lakers have also always been about making money and creating headlines. Having one of the greatest players of all time play on the same team as his son for 41 home games in Los Angeles would draw huge crowds every night and print money.

Think of the Griffeys playing on the same team in Major League Baseball. People still show the highlights of the Griffeys playing together. The Lakers can replicate the same idea on the basketball court in the “City of Angels” while LeBron is playing at a high level.

It could also be invaluable for Bronny to play on the same team as his father. He could learn how to be a professional under the bright lights of Los Angeles on the most visible team in the sport while teaming up with LeBron. It could also ensure that LeBron has a more enjoyable last years of his career.
