Los Angeles Lakers Small Forward LeBron James was named the Western Conference Player of the Month for February. He had a great month. He averaged 29.3 points per game, 10.5 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. James’ great performance coincided with Luka Doncic coming over from the Dallas Mavericks early in the month.
In his 21st career season, James is continuing to defy “Father Time.” He is 12th in the league in points per game and fifth in assists. How much longer will James be able to maintain this level as the Los Angeles Lakers continue to climb the Western Conference standings?

Los Angeles is one of the NBA’s hottest teams. The performance of James has been a large part of that. The Lakers have won six straight games and are now the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. LA’s offense has been mediocre this season, though they have been better with Doncic in the fold. They are 18th in points scored, sixth in field goal percentage, and 18th in three-point percentage. The James-Doncic duo will only improve as they continue to build chemistry with one another.
The team’s defense has been much better than many expected this season. They are eighth in points allowed, 10th in field goal percentage, and seventh in opposing three-point percentage. James has also shown a commitment on the defensive end he has not showcased in years. With more of the offensive burden shifting to Doncic, James has become more of a defensive presence.

James is also on the doorstep of another milestone that illustrates his track record of excellence. He is only a point away from 50,000 career points. No other player in league history has even eclipsed 45,000 career points. With James playing at this level and Doncic continuing to find his footing, no team will want to face the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Playoffs.
