Los Angeles Lakers Legend LeBron James On the Doorstep Of History

Los Angeles Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers Forward LeBron James continues to defy “Father Time.” He is one point away from setting a record that seemed unfathomable before he entered the league. James is a point shy of 50,000 career points scored between the regular season and the postseason. He needed 18 points entering last night’s game to score 50,000 career points but came up just short scoring 17.

Even though James was unable to score 50,00 career points, he made another piece of history. He notched his 1,000th career win last night when the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 108-102. James is putting together another tremendous regular season and has played much better as of late. He is 14th in the league in points per game and fifth in the league in assists. With James set to make another bit of NBA history, how much longer can he play at an All-NBA level?

Los Angeles Lakers Season Summary

Things are shaping up for the Lakers following the blockbuster acquisition of Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks a few weeks ago. They have won six straight games and are now the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference. LA’s offense has been middling this season but has been much better since Doncic came to town. They are 17th in points scored, sixth in field goal percentage, and 18th in three-point percentage.

Los Angeles’ defense was expected to be an issue but that part of the team has been surprisingly strong. They are eighth in points allowed, 10th in opposing field goal percentage, and eighth in opposing three-point percentage. James has also been playing much better defense as of late due to the Los Angeles Lakers’ lack of size.

Final Thoughts

James and the Lakers return to the court tomorrow night against the Charlotte Hornets. He is expected to eclipse 50,000 career points early on in Tuesday’s game. James is still one of the NBA’s best players and keeps defying the odds two decades into his career.
