Los Angeles Lakers Power Forward Wins 2024 Legal Battle

The Los Angeles Lakers big man signing of 2023 has just had a surgery in mid much that is set to sideline him for the rest of the season although physicians believed he could’ve returned if the Lakers made a deeper playoff run. He provided the Lakers with depth and a different look at the center position. Without him, the Lakers have neither of those available to them.

Off the court he has been in a custody battle with his ex Yasmine Lopez. This is another issue that has been piled onto his injury making that past few months tough for the big man.

Lakers Power Forward Deals With Financial and Emotional Damages

Christian Wood was firstly granted temporary custody of their 10-month old son against his ex-girlfriend, Lopez a professional model. Christian Wood claimed that his ex-girlfriend and mother of his son has made his life unbearable after they broke up in 2022.

In court documents Christian claimed that his ex, who is not only a famous model but also an influential figure in the social media realm, caused not only emotional and physical stress to him but also major financial losses to his property. In February of 2024, Christian claims that Lopez and a bunch of her friends exhibited uncouth behavior by jumping through the fence of his property and scratching the hood and doors of his Mercedes Benz.

She wasn’t finished as she later entered another vehicle and damaged it. She then went to the front yard and started walking across in a psychotic behavior before the neighbors called the police on her. She was arrested upon their arrival.

Constant Incidents Lead to Court Battle

The former couple had an 8-month old son, who police advised Mr. Wood to pick up from Lopez in order to avoid the child being processed into child protection services. She refused to hand him over. In an effort to gain the media and public pity Ms. Lopez started spewing allegations left right and center painting her baby daddy in a negative way and playing the victim.

In an another incident in August of 2023, Wood claims that Lopez exhibited another session of psychotic behavior by breaking into his home and breaking expensive statues, flower vases, and art before trying to stab the Los Angeles Lakers forward. Friends who witnessed the situation had to act quickly by calling the police who came to the rescue and deescalated the situation.

To add salt to the wound, the LA Lakers forward also narrated another incident while still a Dallas Maverick player, where Ms. Lopez broke into his home and sprayed his Lamborghini with paint. Ms. Lopez uses Mr. Wood’s publicized work schedule to track his movement and break into his house to vandalize his property.

Legal Custody & Primary Custody

The Los Angeles Lakers player requested for a joint legal custody and primary physical custody for their now 10-month old son. The temporary order was given until March 20th. It stated that Lopez should stay at least 100 yards away from the Wood. Whether at home, at work or even in his car. The order further stated that Lopez should not ‘Abuse’ Wood, including any harassing, attacking, striking, threatening, or stalking of her ex-boyfriend.

The orders became permanent when Lopez failed to show up in a court case to defend the allegations compelling the judge to side with Wood. The restraining order took effect for a period of 3 years.
