This is the first time in league history two teams in the same division(NL West) have started 8-1 or better through 9 games. Will the Dodgers and Giants maintain their high level of play?

Los Angeles has gotten off to a strong start by succeeding in the clutch. Seven of their nine wins have featured comebacks. Los Angeles also got off to the best start(8-0) for a World Series champion in league history. LA’s offense has been strong. They are 19th in batting average, fourth in runs scored, and second in home runs. Their pitching staff has also been strong. They are second in ERA, first in strikeouts, and 10th in WHIP. Even though Los Angeles dropped two of three road games against the Philadelphia Phillies, they are the league’s best club by a wide margin.

San Francisco has also had an exciting start to 2025. Wilmer Flores pinch-hit and hit a walk-off single to defeat the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. The Giants have been stellar on offense. They are seventh in runs scored, eighth in home runs, and 14th in batting average. They have also gotten great production from their pitching staff. They are fourth in ERA, 13th in WHIP, and 15th in opposing batting average.

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue their road trip on Monday with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals. Los Angeles will look to rebound from a tough series against a fellow National League contender.
