Los Angeles Chargers Wide Receiver Ladd McConkey continued his stellar rookie season in last night’s 34-27 victory over the Denver Broncos. He also made a bit of history in Thursday’s game with 6 catches for 87 yards. It was McConkey’s eighth straight game with 50+ receiving yards. That is the longest streak for a rookie since New York Giants Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. had nine consecutive games in 2014.
McConkey was drafted 34th overall by the Los Angeles Chargers after a spectacular collegiate career at the University of Georgia. McConkey is 20th in the league in receptions and ninth in receiving yards. Will he be able to tie Beckham Jr.’s record next week and continue his great rookie campaign?

The Chargers win last night over the Denver Broncos improved their record to 9-6 and their NFL Playoff chances to 97%. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh has worked wonders for the Chargers in his first year at the helm. LA’s offense has been mediocre this season as they are 24th in total yards and 19th in points per game. The team’s offense came alive though in last night’s victory overcoming an 11-point deficit in the first half. Quarterback Justin Herbert had one of his best games of the season with 284 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.
LA’s defense has been the strength of their team this season. They are 15th in the league in yards allowed and third in points allowed per game. After struggling in the first half, the Los Angeles Chargers defense surrendered six points in the second half to help jumpstart the comeback.
Final Thoughts
McConkey looks to match OBJ’s rookie record with nine straight games with 50+ receiving yards in Week 16 when the Los Angeles visit the New England Patriots. It has been a strong season for the Chargers and McConkey has been a large part of that. He will look to continue taking the league by storm as he sets his sights set on history.
