Los Angeles Chargers Eyeing Tee Higgins In Free Agency

Los Angeles Chargers

Wide Receiver Tee Higgins is expected to garner interest from many NFL teams this offseason, and the Los Angeles Chargers are among them. Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback has expressed his interest in re-signing Higgins. The star wide receiver has posted messages though that make it seem like he does not feel appreciated by the team.

Higgins is coming off a solid regular season as a clear No. 2 option behind Wide Receiver Ja’Marr Chase. Higgins finished with 73 receptions, 911 receiving yards, and 10 receiving touchdowns. Will Higgins be a good fit with the Los Angeles Chargers?

Los Angeles Chargers Offseason Priorities

Los Angeles had a strong season under first-year Head Coach Jim Harbaugh. The Chargers finished 11-5 and secured the fifth seed in the AFC. They went on the road to face the Houston Texans, but their offense played terribly. Even though Quarterback Justin Herbert had one of the worst games in recent playoff history, he carried an offense with one quality pass catcher to the postseason.

Herbert’s only reliable receiving threat this season was rookie Wide Receiver Ladd McConkey. He finished with over 1,000 receiving yards and in the postseason had 197 receiving yards while the rest of the team had a measly 45. An objective for the Los Angeles Chargers spring is finding a quality wide receiver to pair with McConkey. Higgins would fit that bill.

Final Thoughts

Higgins will be a hot commodity this offseason. He is projected to make between $27-$30 million a season. Cincinnati has both Higgins and Chase hitting free agency this offseason. They are expected to prioritize Chase. That could make Higgins the odd man out in the Bengals receiver room.

Los Angeles has the fourth-most cap space this offseason. That flexibility makes signing Higgins a distinct possibility. If the star receiver can find his way onto the Los Angeles Chargers, it would improve the offense drastically.
