MLB News: Los Angeles Angels Star Slated to Return After 2 Months

The Los Angeles Angels placed Anthony Rendon on the injured list yet again.

The Los Angeles Angels have been one of the most disappointing teams in the last handful of years as they have been unable to make the postseason since the 2014 season. With a lot of injuries, manager Rob Washington is set to get one of their star players back in third baseman Anthony Rendon.

While speaking on Sunday ahead of their final game of the road trip against the Chicago Cubs, Washington discussed when the Los Angeles Angels are expecting him to be back on the field and in the lineup.

“Our intention was for him to be ready when we get back. When we get back, we’ll assess that. And if he’s ready to go, he’ll be in there tomorrow. If he’s not ready to go, he’ll be in the next day. If he’s not ready to go (the day after that), he’ll be in there the next day. We’ll figure that out once we get back to Anaheim.” h/t OC Register

The skipper also said the plan is to have Anthony Rendon back in the leadoff spot as well as playing third base. The Angels have been struggling but the re-addition of a former All-Star and World Series champion could help turn things around.

After losing superstar Shohei Ohtani in free agency before the season, the Los Angeles Angels have been struggling to figure things out. Entering Sunday’s game, the team is fourth in the AL West with a 37-51 record so far. They are currently 10.5 games back of a potential playoff spot.

The team tried to make a run ahead of last year’s deadline but are currently 26th in all of Major League Baseball in terms of winning percentage. The team has 11 different players that are free agents like pitcher Matt Moore, second baseman Brandon Drury and first baseman Miguel Sano to name a few.

The Los Angeles Angels are on the verge of missing the postseason once again and can just focus on the future. Giving Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon a team to be ready to make the postseason in 2025 is critical and that should not include giving up assets to pretend they can make a run this year.
