Liverpool had let go six of their major stars at the beginning of the 2023/24 season. They also got a lot of tasty offers concerning other players during that transfer window. The club refused to sell anymore. The sale of Fabinho, Firmino, Henderson, Milner, Chamberlain, and Keita had depleted their squad. However, they were able to make some crucial additions during that time.
They signed four other players in the names of Macallister, Szoboszlai, Endo, and Gravenberch.
Despite the no-sale bond placed on their remaining players, Saudi clubs pestered over one of their Star. Liverpool’s talisman, Salah was heavily linked to a Saudi Club Al Ittiad. With Al Ittiad and others ready to splash the cash, Liverpool’s adamancy put them off.
Now another summer is fast approaching. Along with Jurgen Klopp’s resignation, there could be a chance he leaves the club.
Salah’s Performance For Liverpool This Season So Far
Mohammed Salah has been the Red’s top scorer this season. Having netted up to 24 goals this season in all competitions. His goal-scoring ability has been great, although not comparable to his first season. So far in the EPL he has 17 which he almost doubled in his first season. This is evident that the age factor has been influential in the drop in his goal-scoring form.
His overall performance as a player hasn’t been bad this season. He has had some good moments and also some sloppy moments.
At the beginning of the season down to December, his form had slowly been rising, and at the end of the year, he peaked!
Some surprises came after he went to the Afcon tournament. He got injured in their first game. Somehow this disrupted his form build-up. He came back from injury, still in a sharp manner, scoring a goal and assisting against Brentford. Sadly he left the game with another niggle. This lasted weeks. Ever since he came back, he has been having periods of inconsistencies in games.
If the inconsistencies continue till the end of the season, the club might be motivated to sell him
Jose Enrique Believes Salah Will Leave In The Summer
Liverpool’s Ex-Defender, Jose Enrique believes this summer will be the best time for Salah to leave the club. The Merseyside club had already seen strong offers last summer. In this summer there might be a chance the club cashes in on the 31-year-old. A lot of factors could constitute his sale. Ranging from a drop in overall performance, alongside Klopp’s planned departure, to the club’s new Management.
There have also been rumors the club might not give new contracts to players above 30.
Jose Enrique has suggested it will be good if an offer comes for Salah and he takes it.
The Ex-Anfield defender believes the club will make a lot of changes, with a new coach as a major one. Therefore if the right offer comes it’ll be best if he takes it.
Possible Replacement For Salah
There is quite a vast array of left-footed attackers that Liverpool could get a hold of. Mohammed Kudus is a versatile and lethal winger who plays for Westham. Depending on the price tag from the Hammers, Liverpool could take a bite.
Also Leroy Sane from Bayern Munich could be another option. Eze from Palace although not a Left winger, but also versatile could be a good option. Trincao from Sporting CP is also a great possibility, especially with Liverpool’s interest in Amorim. In a scenario where the Sporting CP coach comes, Trincao might also follow.
More Challenges Ahead
Liverpool will continue their league campaign against Fulham. They’ll need a win to keep their League-winning hopes up.
