Liverpool’s Bobby Clark Gets #10 at RB Salzburg in £10M Move

Liverpool have not yet made any new signings under their new manager, Arne Slot, but the club continues to profit from the sale of youth talent accumulated during Jürgen Klopp’s tenure. Today, 19-year-old midfielder Bobby Clark officially departed the club.

Bobby Clark is transferring to RB Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga. Liverpool decided to cash in on him for a 10 million pound fee, as his playing time this season would have likely been limited to domestic cup matches due to the team’s depth in midfield. Sporting director Richard Hughes has also secured a 17.5% sell-on fee, ensuring Liverpool will benefit financially if Clark excels at Salzburg.

Additionally, Liverpool holds the right to match any future transfer offers for him. Clark, who joined Liverpool’s academy from Newcastle in the summer of 2021 for 1.5 million pounds, made 12 first-team appearances last season, including a notable performance in the League Cup final victory over Chelsea. He now moves on to Salzburg.

In Salzburg, Bobby Clark will reunite with Pepijn Lijnders, a former Klopp assistant who played a significant role in his development at Liverpool. Lijnders’ support was crucial in both Salzburg’s decision to sign Clark and Clark’s decision to join the Austrian club.  The 19-year-old midfielder featured 12 times for Jürgen Klopp’s team last season and was highly valued by Klopp and his assistant, Pepijn Lijnders. Lijnders, now the head coach at Salzburg, was instrumental in bringing Clark to his new club, especially as Clark’s first-team opportunities under Arne Slot this season were expected to be limited.

Bobby Clark is expected to play a very crucial role in the RB Salzburg side. His midfield presence can help the team a lot to achieve the desired results. He shows a lot of quality on the ball and is known for his vision. He can make great spaces and even rush forward to score some goals.

What Bobby Clark Said

“After an incredible three years at Liverpool FC, I’ve decided it’s time for a new challenge,” Clark wrote on his social media handle. “I’ve learned so much during my time at the club and am very thankful for the opportunities and experiences I’ve had. Thank you to all the fans who supported me on this journey.”

Bobby Clark is not the only young Liverpool talent potentially moving this week; Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg is attracting interest from Brentford and Bayer Leverkusen. Liverpool, having yet to make any new signings this summer, have also sold Fábio Carvalho to Brentford for up to £27.5 million. Liverpool began their Premier League campaign under new manager Arne Slot with a 2-0 win over Ipswich, and take on Brentford this Sunday.
