Liverpool FC is one of the main title contenders this Premier League season, but it is all coming down to the wire after a draw against Manchester United. Manchester City is only a couple of points behind Jurgen Klopp’s side, whereas Arsenal is steadily in third place and making good progress. Can Jurgen Klopp end his time as a Liverpool FC manager with an English Premier League trophy, or will another team surpass the Reds?

Liverpool played Manchester United at Old Trafford, hoping to secure three points putting them clear of Arsenal’s reach. However, the 2-2 draw wasn’t the result fans had anticipated or hoped for. Manchester United has played well this season and Liverpool is a well-oiled machine.
Despite only claiming a point on the road, it turns out the point was harder to get than one would expect. Mo Salah buried a late penalty to make it 2-2- before the final whistle. If not, the Merseyside club would have seen Arsenal and Man City creep even closer to first place on the ladder.
Liverpool FC had plenty of chances throughout the game, with dozens of shots on goal in the first half alone. However, lack of composure in the final third, good defending, and solid goalkeeping held the Reds to just one goal from Luis Diaz going into half-time.
Then, Bruno Fernandes shot from nearly the halfway line after an errant pass from a Liverpool defender. All Liverpool could do was idly watch the ball sail over the keeper’s head and into the goal. It was 1-1. Manchester United actually ended up taking the lead a few minutes later when Mainoo struck a shot into the upper 90.
Thankfully for the tenacity of the Reds, they never stopped trying. Harvey Elliot continued to shine in midfield, drawing a foul that led to Salah’s penalty kick conversion.
Jurgen Klopp Thinks Liverpool FC Can Win the Premier League
Jurgen Klopp thinks his side should have gotten more points from the United v. Liverpool game, but he remains confident his side can finish strong.
‘As far as I’m concerned, we have a point more than we did before. We have to be calm throughout the whole journey. The goals we scored brought us to where we are now…games are thick and fast, which is good for us. We are in the race and I’m absolutely fine with it.’
Wise words from the German coach – someone who will be hard to replace going into next season.
