Liv Morgan Addresses Massive Changes to WWE Events in 2024

Liv Morgan recently talked about the future of WWE and expressed disappointment with WWE’s decision to decrease the number of live events in the future. Although many wrestlers might disagree with the decision of WWE, we all know that WWE is not going to change its decision for a few people.

WWE has been traveling around the world and doing different live premier events, such as the most recent ‘Bash in Berlin’, which have benefited the company greatly. The Chief Operating Officer of TKO Mark Shapiro stated that the number of WWE events will drop significantly in 2025. The evidence of Shapiro’s statement will see a decrease in the number of WWE events. The company used to do almost 300 live events in a year but now has opted to cut this down to 250 in 2024. The reigning WWE Women’s World Champion does not agree with this decision.

Endeavor Group Changing WWE

Vince McMahon sold most of the company’s shares, nearly worth $300 million, to Endeavor Group. Since then, they have made a lot of changes in WWE in recent years since they purchased the firm and merged it with the UFC to form TKO. WWE tours the world with live events, which helps them to create more fans and entertain the people who weren’t able to travel to the United States or attend weekly television tapings to watch WWE.

This also made wrestlers more specialized to perform well in live events and gave opportunities to wrestlers like Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley to come up. Because WWE is heavily advertised and has the right to be on live TV, most of its income is now dependent on the earnings from social media and TV shows. This also is a chance for the performers to let loose and have fun with the crowd instead of being strictly to their character as they are on television.

Recently, Goldman Sachs, a co-head of global tech, media, and telecommunications, met at the Communication & Technology Conference. In that meeting, they confirmed to reduce the number of house shows they conduct annually because they are already profitable.

Liv Morgan’s Reaction to the Changes

Shapiro continued during the earnings conference call, stating that WWE will host roughly 250 live events in the calendar year 2024 which is down from the 300 which were held in 2023. in calendar year 2023. The plan for next year is to reduce the number of events to around 200 while making more money.

Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan was recently interviewed by the New York Post about WWE’s decision to scale back live events. She explained that they should not reduce the number of events because it brings a lot of joy and happiness to both live TV viewers and live audiences.

Liv Morgan said this to share her thoughts. “I’m sad to see them kind of go a little bit because the house shows are so much fun and it’s so so much more intimate. House shows are truly for the love of the game. I’m sad to see that go for the newer guys and girls coming in who aren’t going to be able to have that experience and have that reps at live events under that belt but it is what is. Time home is always nice.” h/t PW Mania

Final Thoughts

It seems like Liv Morgan wants to convey the message that the end goal for Endeavor Group members is to be more profitable. But profit is not the only factor for WWE to have this massive success. Entertaining people continuously must be the main priority and now it seems like WWE is being dragged away from that which might result in a big loss.

However, we cannot make the final decision as the reaction from the public is yet to come out and that might not be satisfactory. What are your thoughts about the opinion of Liv Morgan and WWE lowering the number of Events per year? Feel free to use the comment section to share your thoughts.
