Li Jingliang Handed Medical Suspension After UFC 305

Li Jingliang Handed Medical Suspension

Li Jingliang is a Welterweight UFC fighter who is famous for his fight against Khamzat Chimaev. He recently fought against Carlos Prates in UFC 305 on Sunday, 18th of August. The Chinese has fought 28 fights until now and has won 19 of the fights but lost nine. His skills are impressive but he was not able to secure his streak in the Octagon.

On the other side, his rival Carlos Prates has fought 26 fights but he has won more fights than Jingliang. Moreover, he came out of the Octagon victorious in 20 fights and has lost only six until now. Unfortunately, Li Jinliang faced a serious head injury and also lost the fight in UFC 305 against Carlos Prates.

The UFC 305 event in Perth, Australia saw most fighters suffering from medical suspension following fierce fights. For example, Li Jingliang will miss 60 days of action because of a severe knockout by Carlos Prates. Other fighters, such as Casey O’Neill, also got other durations of the ban and Casey O’Neill required a doctor’s clearance after the six-month suspension. The night was made even more interesting by the main fight between Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya.

In 2015, an American professional boxer had a match against Terrel Williams. He was struck in the back of his head and he was paralyzed for 221 days. He eventually recovered and was back on his feet but went through a lot of tough times. So UFC puts fighters for a long rest and a checkup from doctors on the sport, especially the fighters who received blows to their heads.

Several Fighters Facing Suspensions

MMA Junkie conducted a full medical list of the fighters who are now suspended because of injuries from the Department of Local Government. Song Kenan received a 21-day suspension and Ricky Glenn had a 30-day suspension and the Medical checkup became mandatory for them. Fighters like Tom Nolan, Alex ReyesJack Jenkins, Herbert Burns, Ricardo Ramos, and many more fighters suffered from injuries and they are now facing between 15 to 180 days of suspension.

Final Thoughts

Li Jingliang: UFC has bigger responsibilities like managing, directing, and making interesting fights that people would love to watch and fights that make sense. But most importantly they have to take care of the fighters’ Health and his/her situation and know about their performance so they can know whether they can fight in the Octagon or just be paralyzed and suffer for the rest of their lives. So from that point of view, it is correct to take such measures to protect the reputation of the company and to get the business going.
