Leny Yoro Makes Impressive Manchester United Debut

Leny Yoro: An Ideal Acquisition for Man United’s Defense

Erik ten Hag was seriously impressed with Leny Yoro’s debut game for Manchester United this past weekend, as the teenager looked like a talented veteran who had played in England for years now. At just 19 years old, Leny Yoro is looking to be a promising signing who can develop under the Red Devils’ coaching and managerial skills.

The young center-back was purchased from French side, Lille, for more than $50 million, making him one of the most expensive teenagers in the footballing world at the time.

Erik ten Hag had nothing but praise for the teenager Leny Yoro after the huge signing of the teen from LOSC in France.

“For the first time, after just one training [session], it’s a very mature performance. That’s what we saw when we scouted him. It’s great to have him. He’s a very young, talented center‑back and there’s a lot to come. He’s here, we think he can play but there’s so many games that he’ll be in a group of four or five defenders.”

Ten Hag hopes that he continues to develop under Manchester’s surveillance3, as the teen shows huge potential to develop into one of the best defenders in the entire world. Ten Hag is looking also for another center back who will complement You for their upcoming season, as Harry Maguire’s injury-prone last season and Luke Shaw’s injury-laden career are worrying for the longevity of the team. Ten Hag knows that they need a strong lineup before next season begins, as they finished much lower in the Prem table than they had hoped in the 2023-2024 season.

“The football leadership is very on the front foot. That’s what clubs like Manchester United should do. We’re very pleased we’ve done business – we have Yoro in, we have Zirkzee in – two high‑potential assets for the future. But when I say future, the future also starts today. The next game is always the most important, next season is always the most important.”

Let’s hope that ten Hag can also secure another backline member along with Leny Yoro before the summer transfer window ends. They also did well in some pre-season friendlies with players like Diallo and McTominay playing well in the midfield and attacking thirds. Other players, like the young Collyer who is only 20 years old, showed just how much younger players are impressing in today’s footballing world.

Before making the deal of a lifetime by going from Ligue 1 in France to the Premier League in England at such a young age, Yoro still impressed in his home country. He made 32 appearances for LOSC in Ligue 1 last season, scoring two goals for his side during key games. He also added three appearances to the total of the season by making appearances in the French Cup, a competitive domestic competition.

The prior year, he made 13 appearances for LOSC at a young age, showing his promise even as a young and developing player who was just 17 years old at the time. Yes, you read that right — Leny Yoro was born in 2005, meaning he just signed for Manchester United at only 19 years old. The potential of this talented center-back is unmatched.  Yoro also has international experience which will make him valuable for the Red Devils during high-stress games, as he has made numerous appearances for the French underage sides at the U23 level.
