On the other hand, Aston Villa will be eager to bounce back from their disappointing performance against Arsenal and make up for it in their upcoming match.
Leicester City vs. Aston Villa: Preview
Leicester City, fresh from their hard-fought draw against Tottenham Hotspur, couldn’t replicate their success at Craven Cottage. Instead, they left empty-handed after suffering a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Fulham. Following an early goal by Emile Smith Rowe, Wout Faes leveled the score for Leicester with a towering header. After the break, Alex Iwobi managed to bring Fulham back into the lead, leaving the Foxes’ attempts to equalize futile. During midweek, Leicester defeated League Two side Tranmere Rovers 4-0 at home to advance to the third round of the EFL Cup.
After winning against West Ham United on opening weekend, Aston Villa was unable to defeat Arsenal and pick up three more points. Ollie Watkins had an afternoon to regret after missing a fantastic first-half opportunity. David Raya also had an incredible second-half save to deny the English forward in the second half. Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey then found the back of the net for the Gunners, handing Villa their first defeat of the new season.
Leicester vs. Aston Villa: Team News & Stats
Leicester’s Patson Daka and Jakub Stolarczyk are still unable to play due to their long-term ankle injuries. However, Leicester was bolstered by Luke Thomas and Conor Coady’s return to fitness in midweek. It is unlikely that either player will start on Saturday. Cooper should go back to the same back four of James Justin, Faes, Jannik Vestergaard, and Victor Kristiansen that played against Fulham. Oliver Skipp and Facundo Buonanotte should secure a spot in the midfield alongside Winks and Ndidi. While Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Abdul Fatawu might partner up front with Jamie Vardy.
For Aston Villa, Matty Cash is expected to be out of action for approximately a month due to a hamstring injury he picked up during the match against Arsenal. Boubacar Kamara, Tyrone Mings, and Robin Olsen are all still injured. Morgan Rogers displayed an impressive performance against Arsenal and is tipped to maintain his position in an advanced attacking role supporting Watkins. Leon Bailey, Amadou Onana, Youri Tielemans, and John McGinn should all continue to hold their places in the starting XI.
