Kelce, Jason Kelce, NFL, Football

A recently retired NFL legend will be making a transition from the gridiron to the media. Following the successes of former football players like Pat McAfee and the Manning brothers exchanging their football jerseys in for media press passes. The next beloved athlete to try his hand will do so from the studio setting in 2024. One of the Kelce brothers will look to do the same in 2024.

Truly New Heights For NFL Great

Jason Kelce announced his retirement from professional football and the Philadelphia Eagles franchise in a heartfelt press conference at the start of March 2024. During the memorable exit ceremony for the surefire Hall-of-Fame offensive lineman, the typically jovial Kelce was far more melancholy and unsure of his future without football.

On Monday afternoon, senior sports reports for The Athletic, Andrew Marchand dropped the details regarding the former SuperBowl LII Champion aligning himself with “The World wide Leader in Sports” for the upcoming 2024-25 NFL campaign. ESPN won the valued services of the 36-year-old over other outlets such as CBS, Amazon Prime, & others.

With his agreement with ESPN, Kelce is expected to appear on the pre-show to Monday evening pre-show coverage on “Monday Night Countdown.”  Jason Kelce joining ESPN’s coverage should not impact the trending podcast “New Heights” that he co-hosts with his brother, Travis Kelce.

Sixth Round Choice To NFL Champion

During his illustrious 13-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles, Jason Kelce excelled from a sixth round of the 2011 NFL draft selection out of the University of Cincinnati. Kelce played 193 games & added 12 more in the playoffs for over 200 total NFL games played in an Eagles green jersey. By the time the 7-time Pro Bowler decided to hang up the cleats, the former Bearcat was universally considered among the best centers in the league.

In 2017, Philadelphia and Jason Kelce reached the pinnacle of the sports, claiming the first and only Super Bowl Championship in their 90+ year history.  Yes, they had won an NFL championship back in 1960… but that was NOT a Super Bowl. Kelce protected backup QB Nick Foles & friends to deliver Philly that first silver trophy in their third attempt.

Already without Jason Kelce under center for the first time in over a decade, the Philadelphia Eagles will begin their season under even more intriguing circumstances. On September 6, 2024, the Eagles will travel to Brazil for a Week One matchup against the Green Bay Packers of the 2024 NFL campaign.

Former NFL Head Coach Becomes Top Guest

Surprisingly buried at the end of the story was a mention of former NFL head coach Bill Belichick also joining ESPN for the upcoming season.  Coach Belichick will appear on Pat McAfee’s show on Monday afternoons like Coach did for his NFL Draft coverage. He will also being featured as a regular guest on the “Manningcast” option for Monday Night Football games this fall.

Last season, Robert Griffin III served as the featured somewhat routine guest for the secondary MNF game broadcast hosted by Payton and Eli Manning. Belichick has previously appeared on the show.
