Las Vegas Raiders Reportedly Open To Trading Tight End Michael Mayer

Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly engaged with other teams about trading for Tight End Michael Mayer. Mayer was drafted in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. He has unfortunately never caught on with the team. Mayer has 48 career receptions and 2 receiving touchdowns.

Mayer saw his spot taken by rookie sensation Tight End Brock Bowers. Bowers was drafted No. 13 overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. He took the league by storm and was one of the best pass-catchers in the league during the 2024-25 season. Bowers was third in the league in receptions and tied for eighth in receiving yards. A great rookie season led to Bowers finishing second in the NFL Rookie of the Year voting. The emergence of Bowers has made Mayer expendable. How will the situation between Mayer and the Las Vegas Raiders resolve itself?

Las Vegas Raiders Offseason Summary

It is a new day for the Raiders. They hired Pete Carroll to be their next and Chip Kelly as their next offensive coordinator. Following another disappointing regular season, Las Vegas is taking a different approach in the hopes of success.

Minority Owner Tom Brady has reportedly also been a big part of the team’s offseason as he looks to help turn around the franchise. The first order of business for the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason is finding a quarterback. Following Quarterback Matthew Stafford‘s return to the Los Angeles Rams, the team had to pivot from what many believe was their top option. Las Vegas has reportedly shifted its interest toward Russell Wilson and Sam Darnold to be the team’s quarterback to begin the 2025-26 season.

Final Thoughts

Las Vegas no longer needs Mayer with Bowers being one of the best players in the National Football League. Even though his two seasons in the league have been underwhelming, Mayer could be a contributor to an NFL team in 2025 and beyond.
