Las Vegas Raiders Superstar Says No To Trade Rumors

Las Vegas Raiders

Another week, another trade rumor involving Davante Adams. No matter how many times the Las Vegas Raiders star denies it, everybody wants him to leave.

At this point, it’s easy to believe that nobody in the media wants Adams to remain on the Raiders. This time it was DeSean Jackson on “The Herd” on Fox Sports One claiming he spoke to Adams and he is unhappy. Adams strongly refuted this report on Wednesday, saying “I’ve probably spoken to DeSean Jackson maybe three or four times in my life, and I never had a conversation with him. Ever.”

Davante Adams Trade Rumors Will Never End

It just appears to be par for the course at this point. While some are hoping for an end to the silly rumors, it seems as if they will never stop. The Las Vegas Raiders are gearing up for a week one showdown with their division rivals the Los Angeles Chargers and once again have to swat away this drama.

It doesn’t seem as if these rumors are going to end anytime soon. No matter how often Adams says he is happy and wants to remain a Raider for life, it feels as though everybody on the outside wants to force him to the Jets. Trading Adams certainly wouldn’t do anything to help the Raiders and their playoff chances.

Las Vegas Gains Nothing in Trade

One of the biggest factors for why trading Adams would make no sense is that it wouldn’t help the Raiders. Former Raiders Head Coach and current Youtuber Jon Gruden gets a lot of criticism for his trades of Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper for draft picks. Yet it seems like everybody wants the Las Vegas Raiders to repeat history and trade a superstar for draft picks.

Gardner Minshew is not Aaron Rodgers or even Derek Carr. But at the same time, you can’t force a player that is of the caliber of Adams to be traded somewhere he doesn’t want to go. It also would absolutely destroy the Las Vegas Raiders cap situation, as trading Adams would incur a massive cap penalty.

DeSean Jackson Joins List of Speculators

It seems as if it’s the most popular rumor in town. Randy Moss, Jackson, and plenty of sportswriters have all dreamed up scenarios that see Adams go everywhere from New York to San Francisco. No matter how many times Adams or his agent reject the rumors, another rumor seems to pop up.

Watch your newsfeed if the Raiders lose in week one to the Chargers. It might be rumored that if the postgame meal spread is missing a food that Adams likes, he might request a trade on the spot. It might sound ridiculous, but at the same time that’s how ridiculous these rumors have gotten from week to week.

Getting Rid of Leaders Isn’t A Great Move

When you’re trying to build a playoff team, getting rid of the leaders on the team isn’t the best decision. It’s been seen numerous times in every sport that trading your leaders tends to backfire. Adams along with Maxx Crosby are the unquestioned leaders of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Trading Adams would send the wrong message to the rest of the league. It will be completely hilarious for “Raider Nation” if Adams ends up spending the remainder of his potential Hall of Fame career with the Las Vegas Raiders. At the same time, it would be a great story for the media if he ends up for any reason being sent to New York.
