The Colombian star took his national team to the finals, only to be edged by the defending champions Argentina. However, it didn’t hinder him from being awarded the best player of the tournament.
James Rodriguez had scored a goal and assisted five times in the Copa America. The Colombian also excelled well for Colombia during their friendlies. He also shined in his Brazilian club Sao Paulo. So far this year James Rodriguez has shown glimpses of prime years while playing for Real Madrid and Real Madrid. This in return has drawn the attention of La Liga clubs and even some Premier League clubs. They’ll hope they can secure his signature before the summer ends.

Colombian star Midfielder James Rodríguez has decided to end his contract with his club Sao Paulo. This will allow the 33-year-old to leave his Brazilian club this summer as a free agent. The former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich player will be hoping he can secure possibly a European club for the 2024/25 season. It has been reported by COPE (via MD), that Celta Vigo is trying their best to secure the Colombian. James Rodriguez is expected to move from Sao Paulo to a European club this summer.
Celta Vigo has already presented a two-year contract for the 33-year-old. The player of the tournament performance in the Copa America had caught the eye of the La Liga club. Other La Liga clubs like Villarreal and Sevilla are also interested in employing the services of the ex-Madrid star. Atletico Madrid are also showing strong interest in James Rodriguez. However, they’ve not made any big move on the Colombian playmaker to secure his signature.
With different La Liga teams in pursuit of Rodriguez, time will tell on the team he’ll end up in. It’ll be interesting to see his type of quality back despite the struggles he had in his career. James Rodriguez has placed his mind in Europe after he was able to secure the Golden Ball at the 2024 Copa América. The Colombian has desired a return to Europe after his undesirable time in Brazil. His Former club in Portugal, Porto, could secure the Colombian due to financial issues. James Rodriguez had spent three seasons in Porto, ranging from 2010 to 2013. La Liga club Real Betis also rejected him. Their sporting director Manu Fajardo said that their club wasn’t seeking his type of player. Nonetheless, he has been linked to other clubs which has been earlier stated.
Premier League Clubs Interested in James Rodriguez
James Rodriguez has been linked to English clubs. Unlike Porto who is struggling financially, English teams won’t be fazed by his salary demands. The Premier League team seems more financially capable of handling the ex-Madrid playmaker. His return back to the EPL would be intriguing compared to his single season at Everton in 2020/21. It has been reported that he has been offered to Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Wolves, and Brighton. Moreover, no form of offer has been made to the Colombian. As it stands he hasn’t been completely released at Sao Paulo.
James had struggled in years at Qatar Stars League. Also, he managed to find his feet in his time at Olympiacos. Now in Sao Paulo a similar story. However, his exceptional display this year, and in his national team has given him another chance. This has allowed teams to desire his quality. James Rodriguez will be hoping to prove himself in top-flight football once again.
