LA Knight Riders Best Seattle Orcas By 4

The Seattle Orcas suffered their fourth defeat of the season, as they were outdone by the LA Knight Riders. It was a closely fought contest at Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina where the Los Angeles side came out on top. Batting first having won the toss, the Seattle Orcas only managed 142 in their 20 overs. In a tournament where the par-competitive score has hovered around the 160–180 mark, this was not enough.

Chasing, the Knight Riders played well within themselves, as they chased down the total in just over 19 overs. While it was not a dominant performance by any means, Sunil Narine and the company will be happy with the result that puts them in fourth place. The defeat means the Seattle Orcas remain stuck at rock bottom with just two points from five games.

A good start is crucial when it comes to posting a competitive score in T20 cricket. Since batsmen have a fewer number of overs to play getting runs on the board early is important. The Orcas struggled in this department. After losing opener Shehan Jayasuriya and No. 03 Quinton de Kock in quick time, Quinton de Kock was run out for a duck, and this meant the top-heavy batting of the Orcas had to a play a more circumspect brand of cricket.

Ryan Rickelton, the South African held the innings together with a solid 89 off 52, inclusive of 6 sixes. However, there was virtually no support at the other end. As the Seattle Orcas’ batsman either consumed deliveries for very little or got out. This meant that they only managed a subpar score of 142 at the end of 20 overs.

LA Knight Riders Do Slightly Better to Post Win

Besides the Washington Freedom’s convincing 94-run victory over MI New York yesterday, no team has managed to dominate the opposition consistently in this year’s Major League Cricket. That was again on display as the Knight Riders, in chasing a moderate score, played an unconvincing brand of cricket as they huffed and puffed their way to the end.

Unmukt Chand, the top scorer for the LA Knight Riders with 62 off 47 with 3 sixes, was supported by Jason Roy at the top who made 27, and Saif Badar who played an unbeaten 18 off 16 taking the Los Angeles side home. Whilst it was not the most spectacular game, a win is a win, and the Knight Riders will take the two points as they seek to solidify their position in the middle of the table.

The Top Four of the Major League Cricket Table is Taking Shape

Whilst there are still more games to go, the top teams that seem best position to win the championship are starting to make their mark. The Washington Freedom are one of the standouts this season and are in a position to qualify for the playoffs. The Texas Super Kings are close behind but have had some bad luck with no results in games. For the Seattle Orcas, the remaining games of the season are starting to look like a do-or-die situation. They have to win all, if not almost all of their games. Can the Seattle Orcas do it?
