Kyle Busch Wins NASCAR FS1 Craftsman Series in Atlanta

NASCAR, Craftsman Truck, Kyle Busch, FS1

Kyle Busch took the win at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, making this his 67th victory while driving trucks. While Busch owned the track overall during the race, he shifted into defensive mode in the last 20 laps or so. Towards the end, he fiercely pushed repeatedly to maintain and take back first place in the blink of an eye. At the very last moment, Busch forced and edged his vehicle past Stewart Friesen’s, making it official that the checkered belonged to him and him alone.

Kyle Busch In A Nutshell

Busch drives in all three of NASCAR’s national race series, and most of his victories are against active drivers. He also drives full-time for Richard Childress, racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. Notably, he has over 200 victories in all three NASCAR national series! The last lap of today’s race was so intense that it nearly became a drag race between Busch and Friesen! It was so close that a photo finish was required to confirm the results for the official winner announcement.

Even with debris still on the track, he still managed to own the track and add another victory under his belt. His win was also tweeted on X by Bob Pockrass himself, a famed motorsports reporter who also works for Fox Sports as a NASCAR insider. Kyle Busch has been mentioned on Fox and other major media companies. Kyle Busch’s name travels around throughout the racing world, and for good reason!

How Kyle Busch Achieved Today’s Victory

While driving a Spire Chevrolet, Busch won today, making it a great day for many, including his (sponsor) Gainbridge. He pulled to the front, nosing ahead of Friesen’s vehicle, and the two were side by side, tag-teaming the lead about 20 yards from the finish line. As mentioned above, the race ended with a photo-finish, ultimately deciding Busch won the race. During the overall race, he held a record-high lead of 80 laps out of all 135 of them. While Busch and Friesen crossed side by side, the drivers right behind them (Tyler Ankrum and Bayley Currey) did the same, barely separated by 0.001 second!

The time separating Busch and Friesen was 0.017 seconds when the two crossed the finish line. That was a thrill in itself, and the crowd shouted, exclaiming their excitement over the epic race finish! While on the final lap, Friesen still edged just a bit ahead of the Spire Motorsports Chevy, coming off turn 4, which gave Busch a chance to side-draft off Friesen’s Toyota. This ultimately gave him the lead just a hundred yards before the finish. Both drivers gave it their all, making the race more on edge than anyone could have expected. A post-race inspection in the garage was completed without any issues, confirming Busch as the Atlanta winner.

Kyle Busch Finishes Today’s Intensity

Both racers were heard in good spirits during and after the race. This speaks volumes of their sportsmanship and regard for one another! From Busch’s hilarious commentary over kitty litter during the race to Friesen sporting a smile and chuckling after the race, neither driver seemed bitter or upset today. Friesen even stated it was “cool just to be racing up front again” and moved on to say he was “proud to have at least a top three out of it.”

Kyle Busch was over the moon about taking his 67th Craftsman-related victory today! He went on to say that he was“proud we had a heck of a race there to the finish, and it wasn’t single-file.” He also went on to say that it was a “cool show,” expressing that NASCAR fans got to see some excitement today. Today’s victory makes Busch’s 232nd national series win and certainly leaves fans reeling over the adrenaline-filled finish.
