In an interview, Barry Rose, a close friend of his and a personality from Florida, disclosed the sad news of his demise and showed how the dedicated Sullivan left a great legacy within and around him and the wrestling fraternity.

The death of Kevin Sullivan occurred at a time when his family was going through a rather difficult time. It was disclosed in the early part of July that he had a perilous brush with death when he was in a very critical condition due to a serious accident in May 2024. It was during an autograph signing session in Florida when he was touched by a cranial stroke that required an emergency surgery that aimed at salvaging his leg.
However, after this surgery, Sullivan developed big problems like sepsis and encephalitis even if the surgery was successful. These health problems affected him. Since his family paid for all expenses; on top of this, he was moving in and out of consciousness in the ICU. Friends, co-workers, and fans came out in their numbers to support him. A page at GoFundMe by his daughter, Nicole, got the funds within the shortest time possible, and this proved just how many people across the globe held him in high esteem and supported the wrestling icon.

While recovering, Sullivan lifted some weights that he had found in his basement and from then on started a lifelong exercise regimen and wrestling career.
